A Scottish schoolyard hid ancient Egyptian artifacts for decades; when archaeologists finally investigated, they uncovered objects dating back more than 2,500 years

A Scottish schoolboy digging for potatoes in 1952 unexpectedly uncovered an ancient Egyptian statue head at Melville House in Fife. More discoveries followed in 1966 and 1984, eventually revealing 18 Egyptian antiquities. Dating from several ancient periods, the objects left archaeologists with a lasting mystery over why they were buried.
