Psychology says parents who read storybooks to their children every night may be building more than just a love of books

A parent who reads with enthusiasm, listens to a childs questions and lets them choose a favorite story may be creating something far more meaningful than a simple nightly literacy exercise. They may be building a small but powerful ritual in which the child repeatedly experiences attention, predictability, conversation and emotional closeness.
