School holidays today: State-wise update as rain closes schools in select districts

Schools across most parts of India remain open today, July 29, 2026, as Guru Purnima is observed as a restricted holiday rather than a statewide closure. However, district administrations in Nagpur, Bageshwar, Champawat, Garhwal and Visakhapatnam have suspended classes because of heavy rainfall, landslide risks or local event management.
