Workers dredging Georgia's Savannah River found cannons that had vanished since the Revolutionary War; more than 200 years later, 19 were pulled from the water. The cannons were recovered between 2021 and 2022 near Old Fort Jackson during a river-deepening project. Experts linked them to British ships used during the Siege of Savannah. Seventeen were restored at Texas A&M and displayed publicly in Savannah in 2026.
