Unpaid traffic challan? Your electricity bill could soon come into picture: Supreme Court suggests new recovery mechanism for Rs 20,000 crore dues

Traffic challan recovery: Supreme Court has suggested linking unpaid traffic e-challans to electricity bills as a possible way to recover nearly Rs 20,000 crore in outstanding fines. The bench of Justices J B Pardiwala and K V Viswanathan also proposed flagging vehicles with unpaid challans on the Parivahan portal, restricting ownership transfers and conducting random checks to improve traffic fine recovery.
