US exempts select Indian specialty drugs, ingredients from 100% pharma tariff

The United States has provided a tariff exemption for certain specialty pharmaceuticals from India due to health needs. This exemption covers various pharmaceutical products, including those for rare diseases and nuclear medicines. Generics are not subject to the newly imposed pharmaceutical tariffs. The zero-tariff framework is applicable from September 29 for eligible goods. Companies can apply for Commerce approval for imports addressing urgent health needs.
