Punjab and Haryana farmers are not just earning from their crops. 2,550 farmers get Rs 2.9 crore through this facility

More than 2,500 farmers in Punjab and Haryana are receiving over Rs 2.9 crore in Indias first farm-level soil-carbon payments. The farmers adopted practices such as direct-seeded rice, reduced tillage and crop-residue management, which were measured and independently verified before carbon credits were issued. The initiative shows how climate-friendly farming can create an additional income stream while also helping conserve water, improve soil health and reduce emissions from crop-residue burning.
