Psychology says people who use sticky notes instead of phone reminders may be using their surroundings to train their memory

A 2021 University of Tokyo study found that writing information on physical paper can produce stronger brain activity during memory recall than using tablets or smartphones. The findings suggest that sticky notes and handwritten reminders may benefit from the visual, spatial and physical cues around them, effectively making your surroundings part of the memory process.
