New Zealands endangered bird Kkp population jumps to 325 after 90 chicks join count, but a new problem emerges

The population of New Zealand's endangered kkp has dramatically increased from 51 to 325 birds, thanks to a fruitful breeding season that produced 90 adorable chicks. This success is bittersweet, however, as conservationists now face the daunting task of sourcing predator-free habitats to support this growth. The ultimate aim is to create a safe haven on Rakiura/Stewart Island, but the species continues to rely heavily on protected environments for survival.
