From bat to bottle: How agave pollination helps put tequila on your table

Long-nosed bats are some of the less well-known animals that help pollinate plants. These bats live in dry grasslands and tropical forests that aren't very wet. In North America, female lesser long-nosed bats travel from south-central Mexico all the way up to the southwestern United States during the spring. They follow paths made of agave plants, which are used to make tequila.
