Florida wildlife researchers conducted a significant removal effort by capturing 177 Burmese pythons and recovering 4,100 eggs. This removal occurred in Collier County during the November 2025 to April 2026 breeding season. The initiative aims to limit the impact of invasive pythons on native wildlife and preserve biodiversity in the ecosystem. Conservation teams tracked tagged male pythons to locate breeding females for removal.
