A Texas family chose conservation over development, helping protect 1,029 acres of land cared for by five generations. The Trust for Public Land worked with Thomas Penn to transfer the property to the US Fish and Wildlife Service, expanding the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge. The protected habitat will benefit the endangered Golden-cheeked Warbler and Black-capped Vireo while connecting thousands of acres of existing protected land.
