Delhi HC raps I-T dept over Rs 53 crore Vodafone Idea refund delay

The Delhi High Court has ordered the income tax department to refund Vodafone Idea 53.09 crore. This refund is for assessment years 2003-04 and 2008-14, held for over two years. The court mandated the refund with interest by September 30, or additional interest will apply. This ruling highlights significant issues within the department regarding tax refunds. Vodafone Idea won a legal battle before the tribunal in June 2024.
