A decades-old forest experiment in Victoria, Australia, was largely forgotten after funding cuts ended its main monitoring. When researchers returned about 30 years later, they found that different forestry methods had produced strikingly different results, including exceptionally large trees in heavily thinned areas and unexpected findings about carbon storage and wildlife habitat.
