A creative solution emerges from Ireland, where a student has pioneered Eco Purge, a biodegradable substance that emits enzymes aimed at degrading microplastic waste in multiple environments. Demonstrated effectiveness has been recorded in soil, freshwater, and marine settings. Although still in the prototype phase, Eco Purge has earned acclaim as the recipient of the European Earth Prize for its novel concept.
