A social media post claiming that the Centre has ordered the consolidation of nine public sector banks into three entities has been debunked by PIB Fact Check. The fabricated notification falsely presented the proposed mergers as a Finance Ministry Gazette order. The claim comes months after another fake PSU bank merger graphic circulated online, while Indias actual 2019 consolidation involved 10 banks.
