Tamil Nadu develops 2km coastal bioshield in Cuddalore to protect from sea-level rise, erosion

Tamil Nadu has established a nearly 2 km long coastal bioshield in Cuddalore, spanning 45 hectares, to combat sea-level rise and erosion. This living shelterbelt, featuring Palmyrah trees, Casuarina seedlings, and mangroves, is designed to protect local villages. The initiative, part of the Green Tamil Nadu and Climate Change Mission, aims to provide natural coastal protection.
