New York City bans AI for students through 8th grade

New York City public schools will ban generative AI for younger students next year. This one-year moratorium aims to assess student interaction with the technology. High school students will receive AI literacy classes and supervised pilot programs. Companion chatbots are prohibited across all school grades.
