N Chandrasekaran: From TCS trainee to Tata titan, the Ratan Tata pick signs off

N Chandrasekaran resigned as Tata Sons chairman, ending his nearly decade-long tenure, with his term set to expire in February 2027. His reappointment had received support from Tata Trusts, the nomination committee and board but stalled after opposition from one director. Under Chandra, Tata expanded into aviation, semiconductors, electronics, batteries and digital businesses, while group revenues and profits rose sharply.
