Billionaire hedge fund manager Ian Wace bought Scotlands remote Tanera Mr island for about $2.2 million in 2017, when its historic buildings were deteriorating and its population had dwindled. What began as an island purchase has since grown into a $135 million regeneration project, with more than 50 buildings restored, 100,000 trees planted, farmland reclaimed and traditional Scottish crafts revived.
