RBI eases KYC rules for FPIs, allows overseas-certified documents, heres what foreign investors need to know

RBI has extended an existing KYC facility to foreign portfolio investors, allowing Indian banks to accept specified documents certified by authorised overseas authorities. The change, effective 18 September 2026, simplifies document certification for FPIs but does not remove their KYC requirements.
