In a historic first, Canada invited to become EU blocs associate member

Canada could become the EUs first associate member under a proposal from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The plan would deepen cooperation beyond trade into defence, energy, critical minerals and technology as Canada and Europe seek stronger economic ties amid uncertainty over US trade policy.
