Naval Station Great Lakes enhanced waste management after joining the Federal Green Challenge. The station increased recycling by 114 percent and composted over 300 tons of waste. Food waste from five galleys was collected for composting and additional recycling bins were added. Employees and trainees supported these programs through active participation and education.
