Drinking a protein shake right after workout? Hyderabad doctor explains what actually matters more

Hyderabad-based senior doctor Dr Sudhir Kumar says recreational lifters may not need excessive protein or an immediate post-workout shake. For a 75 kg adult strength-training three times weekly, he suggests 90120g protein daily, spread across three to four meals. Around 2030g per meal is preferable to consuming it all at once. Protein timing matters less than total intake. He also stresses progressive training, adequate calories, 79 hours of sleep and consistency. Supplements are optional if dietary protein is sufficient.
