Mumbai drenched on first day of week; IMD issues 'red alert'

MUMBAI: Incessant rains and water-logging slowed down traffic in Mumbai on Monday morning, with the IMD issuing a 'red alert', predicting very heavy showers in the city and neighbouring areas over the next few hours. After heavy rains overnight and in the morning, commuters complained of water accumulation on tracks at Dadar, Kurla and Bandra railway stations, and local trains running late by 10 to 15 minutes. Spokespersons of the Western Railway and the Central Railway, however, said their suburban services were running normally, despite continuous rainfall since last night. The heavy downpour, which began around midnight with lightning and thunder, continued in the morning, leading to inundation of low-lying areas like King's Circle, Lalbaug, Worli, Dadar, Parel, Kurla and other areas. The water-filled potholes further worsened the road traffic conditions. In a nowcast warning issued at 8.30 am, the civic body said the weatherman has predicted intense to very intense spells of rain and thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph in Mumbai and neighbouring Thane and Raigad districts for the next three hours. A red alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane and Ratnagiri districts, applicable till 11. 30 am on Monday, a senior IMD Mumbai official said, adding they were keeping a close watch on the weather conditions and further updates will be provided. For the next 24 hours, the IMD has predicted cloudy sky with heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places in the city and suburbs with a possibility of thunder and lightning, besides gusty winds at a speed of 30-40 kmph, a civic official said. In the last 24 hours, the Colaba observatory in south Mumbai recorded 134.4 mm rainfall, while the Santacruz observatory in the suburbs registered 73.2 mm downpour. As per the civic body's rainfall data, the island city recorded an average rainfall of 111.19 mm, followed by 76.46 mm in the eastern suburbs and 74.15 mm in the western suburbs in the 24-hour period ending at 8 am on Monday. Sacrificing nationality for money: Opposition parties protest against BJP for India-Pakistan Asia Cup clash

MUMBAI/NEW DELHI: Opposition parties on Sunday staged protests across several states against the India-Pakistan Asia Cup cricket match in Dubai, accusing the BJP-led Centre of betraying national sentiment so soon after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. The Shiv Sena (UBT) led demonstrations in Maharashtra, Jammu and Madhya Pradesh, with workers burning effigies, smashing television sets and launching the Majha Kunku Majha Desh campaign, under which sindoor and other symbolic items will be sent to the Prime Ministers Office. Party leaders Sanjay Raut, Aaditya Thackeray and Kishori Pednekar accused the government of sacrificing nationalism for money, while alleging that the decision to allow the match was taken without even informing the prime minister. Had Balasaheb Thackeray been alive, this match would not have happened, Raut declared. In Delhi, AAP workers protested against restaurants screening the match, while Arvind Kejriwal called playing Pakistan treason. His colleagues vowed to name and boycott outlets showing the game. In Hyderabad, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi asked whether money from cricket is more valuable than the lives lost in Pahalgam. Women workers of the AAP also held a demonstration in Delhi, urging people to boycott the game. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said, Playing a match with Pakistan is treason against the country and every Indian is very angry about it, while senior leader Manish Sisodia questioned if the flames of Operation Sindoor have cooled so quickly that cricket matches are being played with the same terrorists. Members of Shive Sena (UBT) stage a protest against the India-Pakistan Asia Cup cricket match, in Thane, Maharashtra, Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025. Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj accused the BJP of hypocrisy, saying that when in opposition, it demanded boycotts but now in power it had permitted the game. He also convened an online meeting with party MPs, urging them to boycott the match. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav branded BJP the a partner of Pakistan, accusing it of stoking conflict only to later soften its stance when convenient. Shiv Sena (UBT) workers in Thane and Sidhi also hit out at the Centre for double standards, pointing out that the Modi government had declared after Operation Sindoor that blood and water will not flow together, yet allowed a cricket contest just months later. Opposition leaders united in their charge that the government had ignored the pain of bereaved families, with protests spreading across Maharashtra, Delhi, Jammu, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana on the day of the marquee clash.

No PUC, No Fuel: Maharashtra's New Plan To Fight Air Pollution Before Winter

The Maharashtra government is set to implement a new policy to combat violations of air pollution control norms by motorists. Petrol pumps will now have to deny fuel to vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate. State Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik on Wednesday announced the 'No PUC, No Fuel' policy to curb pollution and prevent the circulation of fake PUC certificates. The minister met state transport department officials and directed them to implement the policy effectively. The date of implementation is yet to be announced. At every petrol pump, vehicles refueling will be scanned through CCTV cameras to determine the validity of their PUC certificate. If a vehicles PUC certificate is invalid, fuel will not be provided. To provide a pollution-free environment to future generations, it is essential for the current generation to impose certain environmentally friendly restrictions on itself. For this purpose, the Pollution Under Control certificate issued to every vehicle must be valid, Sarnaik said. The chain of producing illegal certificates must be completely stopped. To achieve this, the 'No PUC, No Fuel' policy will be strictly enforced at every petrol pump in the future, he added. The 'No PUC, No Fuel' policy was initially announced by the Maharashtra government in November 2019, with plans for implementation from January 2020, but faced challenges and delays, as per reports. Pratap Sarnaikmet state transport department officials on Wednesday. (Photo: X profile) EV Drive Just Changing Pollution Goalpost? Nithin Kamath Raises Concerns Invalid PUC According to Sarnaik, arrangements will be made at petrol pumps to issue PUC certificates immediately, ensuring no inconvenience to motorists. The PUC certificate will have a Unique Identity (UID), allowing its validity to be checked periodically. Furthermore, the Transport Department has issued instructions to launch a vigorous campaign to expose gangs that are currently issuing PUC certificates illegally. The 'No PUC, No Fuel' push comes weeks before winter sets in. Big cities like Mumbai, Thane, and Pune regularly get shrouded in thick smog. Air pollution increases in winter due to temperature inversion, which traps cold, dense air and pollutants close to the ground, preventing their dispersal by warm, rising air that is more common in summer. Vehicle pollution is a major environmental and public health issue in India, with the transport sector contributing significantly to urban air pollution, especially through particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxides (NOx). Maharashtra has been actively promoting electric vehicles through various incentives and policies as a long-term strategy to reduce vehicular pollution. Pakistan-backed terror module busted; five individuals across India arrested in multiple raids

NEW DELHI: In a joint operation with state police and central agencies, the Delhi Polices Special Cell has busted a Pakistan handlerbacked pan-India terror module and arrested five people from different States via multiple raids. Two of them were planning to purchase land as a base to initiate caliphate related training activities. The accused have been identified as Ashhar Danish (23), a resident of Bokaro in Jharkhand, Aaftab Qureshi (25), Sufiyan Abubakar Khan (20), a resident of Mumbra, Mohammed Huzaif Yaman (20), a resident of Telangana, and Kamran Qureshi alias Samar Khan (26), a resident of Rajgarh in MP. Simultaneous raids were conducted at multiple locations in Delhi, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh. Incriminating material, arms, ammunition, and chemicals used in making IEDs were also recovered. Through a tip-off, a terror module with operational footprints in Delhi, Ranchi, Thane, Nizamabad and Rajgarh was identified. The members possessed significant knowledge about preparing gunpowder and fabricating IEDs. A few of them expressed willingness to sacrifice their lives in pursuit of establishing a caliphate in India under the concept of Gazwa-e-Hind, a senior police officer said. It was further revealed that Danish, a key figure, was attempting to procure weapons from Delhi/NCR and chemical substances from agro-chemical shops and online platforms. A trap was laid on Tuesday near Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, where Qureshi and Sufiyan were intercepted while carrying two semi-automatic pistols, along with 15 live cartridges. During the investigation on Wednesday, joint raids were carried out in Ranchi, Thane, Bengaluru, Nizamabad, and Rajgarh with assistance from the sister agency. Later, Danish was arrested in Ranchi. From his rented room, IED-making components and chemical substances were recovered. He admitted that he had procured arms, ammunition and explosives in pursuance of a criminal conspiracy to establish a caliphate through violent means, Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Kushwah said. Danish stated that he was receiving instructions from a Pakistan-based handler and was in constant communication with other module members. Later, Yaman was arrested by Nizamabad, who disclosed his involvement in experiments related to manufacturing arms and ammunition under the guidance of Danish. Police also arrested Kamran from Rajgarh, Kushwah stated. Three pistols, 16 live cartridges, copper sheets and steel hollow pipes, Sulphuric acid, Nitric acid, Sodium bicarbonate, Sulphur powder, pH value checker, ball bearings, weighing machine, Rs 10,500 cash, etc. were recovered from their possession. Danish, a post-graduate in English from Ranchi, began listening to lectures of Dr. Israr Ahmad and gradually adopted radical beliefs. He came across individuals like Aaftab Qureshi and Izhar-Ul-Haq on social media, who shared a similar ideology. He created a group and added around 40 people, where discussions centred on establishing a caliphate, Kushwah said. He also created multiple groups with multiple social media IDs showing himself as CEO of a company, a professor or an NGO operator to disguise any surveillance upon him and his activities. He collected for the procurement of chemicals and purchased Sulphur for making gunpowder. In August, he procured copper plates to manufacture cartridges. He also obtained a bullet and a country-made pistol from Bokaro to study as a prototype for manufacturing arms. Aaftab was active on social media platforms and started consuming radical Islamic content around 2020, including speeches of Tariq Masood, Zakir Naik, Israr Ahmed and Tariq Jameel. He became a member of radical groups discussing Jihadi ideologies. He connected with Danish through various social media platforms, police said. According to the police, Yaman is a B. Pharmacy student who came into contact with Danish three to four years ago, through an online platform. Danish discussed perceived atrocities against Muslims in India and proposed forming a Lashkar to retaliate through armed jihad. Danish assigned him the responsibility of learning firearm manufacturing for jihadist purposes. Kamran admitted that he came into contact with Danish through the WhatsApp group, which promoted radical ideology for the Gazwa-e-Hind. He contributed funds to the Danish and was instructed to recruit more members. He and Danish were also planning to purchase land as a base to initiate caliphate related training activities, police added.

Not in race to claim credit, working with CM as team: Shinde on ads featuring only Fadnavis

THANE: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has asserted there is no race among the ruling Mahayuti allies to claim credit for work, and that he is working with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis as a team. Shinde made the comments in response to a question over full-page advertisements published in prominent newspapers on Saturday, featuring only CM Fadnavis. One advertisement showed Fadnavis offering floral tributes to the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, while another showed him paying obeisance to Lord Ganesh on the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi, the last day of 10-day Ganpati festival. Both the ads have 'Devabhau' written in Marathi at the bottom. However, it could not be known who sponsored the advertisements. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a public function in Thane on Saturday, Shinde was asked whether the advertisements were an attempt by CM Fadnavis to project himself as the architect of the Maratha reservation. In response, Shinde said, We are not in a race to take credit. Whether it is the Maratha community or the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community, the work of delivering justice to them has been done by the Mahayuti government. The validation of this work was already received in the last assembly elections. Now Devendraji and I have started our second innings as a team. Going forward, our agenda remains the same - development of the state and helping the poor and needy, he said. The issue of Maratha reservation resurfaced recently in the state with activist Manoj Jarange's five-day hunger strike in Mumbai to press for the demand. Jarange launched the protest on August 29 and called it off on September 2 after the state government accepted most of his demands. After the stalemate ended, CM Fadnavis said the government found a solution in the interest of the Maratha community. The ruling Mahayuti comprises the BJP, Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Collateral consequences of Ukraine conflict, including fuel price, affecting Global South: India tells UNGA

UNITED NATIONS: India has voiced regret over the Ukraine conflict's collateral consequences, including prices of fuel, saying countries of the Global South have been left to fend for themselves, as Delhi underscored that diplomatic efforts hold the promise to end the war and bring lasting peace. India continues to remain concerned over the situation in Ukraine. We maintain that the loss of innocent lives is unacceptable, and no solution can be found on the battlefield, India's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, said Thursday. Addressing the UN General Assembly debate on The situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine', Harish said India continues to ote with regret that the collateral consequences of the conflict, including prices of fuel, is affecting the world at large and particularly the countries of the Global South, which have been left to fend for themselves. From our perspective, it is critical that their voices are heard, and their legitimate concerns duly addressed. Underscoring that the wholehearted participation and commitment of all stakeholders are critical for lasting peace, India told the UN General Assembly that it welcomes the ecent positive developments in this direction. Harish said Delhi endorsed last month's summit meeting in Alaska between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and voiced appreciation for the progress made at the summit. We also note the subsequent diplomatic efforts by the US president in engaging with Ukrainian president and European leaders in Washington Harish said. We believe all these diplomatic efforts hold the promise of bringing to an end the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and opening up prospects for a lasting peace. Three days after rolling out the red carpet for Putin for the summit meeting in Alaska, Trump hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and seven other European leaders - German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte - in the White House. Harish said Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains in touch with Putin, Zelensky and the European leadership on the evolving situation. Underlining that an early end to the Ukraine conflict is in everyone's interest, Harish referred to Modi's message that this is not an era of war and emphasised that Delhi stands ready to support diplomatic efforts for an early end to the conflict. Hours before India's statement at the UNGA, Modi spoke with European Council President Antnio Costa and von der Leyen. Exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and efforts for bringing an early end to the conflict in Ukraine, Modi said in a post on X. Earlier on Thursday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also spoke with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and discussed bilateral cooperation as well the Ukraine conflict. India supports an early end to this conflict and the establishment of an enduring peace, Jaishankar said. Sybiha said he informed Jaishankar about the current battlefield situation and Ukraine's efforts to achieve a just peace. We rely on India's authoritative voice and active role in supporting the full cessation of hostilities and broader international peace efforts, Sybiha said, adding that he and Jaishankar agreed to meet during the upcoming high-level UN General Assembly session. Modi met Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Tianjin, China, earlier this week and the two leaders exchanged views on regional and global developments, including the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. Last week, Modi and Zelensky spoke over phone and exchanged views on the ongoing conflict, its humanitarian aspect, and efforts to restore peace and stability. Harish stressed that India has consistently advocated that the path of dialogue and diplomacy is the only way forward to end the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, no matter how insurmountable such a course may appear. He said India's approach to the Ukraine conflict continues to be people-centric, providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and economic support to friends and partners in the Global South, including some of India's neighbours who are facing economic distress.

3-year-old boy from Gujarat kidnapped, strangled by cousin; Body found in Mumbai train toilet

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat's Surat city has been shaken by the chilling kidnapping and murder of a 3-year-old boy. The prime suspect, his own cousin, dumped the child's body in a train toilet in Mumbai before vanishing with the mother's mobile phone. Now, multiple police teams are chasing him across Maharashtra and Bihar in a high-stakes manhunt. The Amroli Police of Surat City and Surat Crime Branch are now locked in a cross-state chase for the accused, 26-year-old Vikas, who is on the run after allegedly strangling his little cousin. The nightmare began on August 21, when Vikas who had recently arrived from Bihar to stay with his aunt Durgadevi in Amroli area of Surat took her son, Akash alias Aarav, out to play. Both disappeared soon after, along with Durgadevi's mobile phone. Days later, Akash's body was discovered stuffed inside the dustbin of an AC train coach toilet at Lokmanya Tilak station, Mumbai. The boy had been strangled with the very rope tied around his neck. The accused, a native of Siwan in Bihar, escaped immediately after the murder. Police sources revealed he had previously worked in Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait, and has been living a reclusive, erratic life since returning. The investigation gained momentum after police traced the missing mobile phone belonging to the child's mother which Vikas carried with him. However, he has kept officers off-track by frequently switching the device on and off, leaving only fleeting signals in Mumbai, Thane and Bihar. CCTV footage from railway stations on the Kushinagar train's route and Lokmanya Tilak station has become the focus of the probe. At the same time, officers are struggling to extract details from the grieving family, who remain in deep shock. Police insiders describe Vikas as a loner with no friends and no personal mobile phone often wandering without purpose. No prior criminal record has surfaced so far, but his sudden violent act has stunned investigators. Tensions had reportedly been simmering in the family. Vikas's mother Rabri Devi had been living with her sister Durgadevi in Surat, but quarrels broke out over accommodation and work. Whether this dispute triggered the killing remains unanswered. At present, five teams from the Surat Citys Amroli Police, Crime Branch, and Local Crime Branch are deployed in Mumbai, Thane and Bihar to nab the fugitive.

Sena (UBT)-MNS panel loses BEST credit society poll; BJP mocks Thackeray brand as reduced to zero

MUMBAI: In a jolt to the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the MNS, their panel has lost all 21 seats in the election to the BEST Employees Cooperative Credit Society Ltd, a platform where the two parties came together amid a buzz about a pan-Maharashtra alliance. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis accused the Sena (UBT)-MNS of politicising the credit society polls around the Thackeray brand. The defeat prompted the BJP to mock the Thackeray brand, saying it has turned to zero. Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut downplayed the defeat, saying he had no information about the results. The Thackeray brand can never fail. The credit society election is neither a final exam nor a unit test (for the upcoming local body polls), Raut said. Suhas Samant, president of the BEST Kamgar Sena, aligned with the Sena (UBT), told PTI on Wednesday that the defeat of all its 21 candidates was shocking. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and the Sena (UBT), headed by cousins Raj and Uddhav Thackeray, respectively, came together on one platform to contest the election, seen as a precursor to a possible alliance between the two parties. Voting was held on Monday for the election to the cooperative credit society linked to the employees of the civic undertaking Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), which runs the citys ubiquitous red buses. Counting began on Tuesday and continued till late at night. A usually low-key and obscure election, the Sena (UBT) envisaged it to make the election a platform to showcase the unity of the two Thackeray cousins, a Sena (UBT) leader said. Leaders from the Sena (UBT) and MNS had said the latter did not have enough strength in the BEST undertaking, but this poll gave the two parties a platform to test their joint clout ahead of the much wider elections to urban and rural local bodies, including the cash-rich Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The BEST is the transport wing of the BMC, which was controlled by the Bal Thackeray-founded Shiv Sena for over two decades before it went under administrator control a few years ago. The two parties had formed a panel named Utkarsh and fielded 21 candidates for the polls. The Sena (UBT) nominated 18 candidates, the MNS two, while one was from the Association of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes aligned with them. The rival panel of Shashank Rao bagged the maximum 14 seats. There were five panels in the fray, including the Sahakar Samruddhi owing allegiance to BJP MLC Prasad Lad. There was also a union supporting the Shiv Sena, led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Money prevailed in this election, Samant claimed. MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande had alleged on Monday that money was being used to lure voters in the BEST credit society polls. After the result, Deshpande on Wednesday said it should not be seen as a litmus test for the local body polls. The war has not ended yet, he said. Rao, son of the late veteran trade union leader Sharad Rao, called the results a victory for BEST employees, who he said have rejected the Sena (UBT)-led group because of their anti-worker policies. He said CM Fadnavis and Mumbai BJP head Ashish Shelar have always supported the BEST workers. Shelar, who is also a state minister, described the win as a good omen for his party in Mumbai. For the BJP, this is a positive sign from Mumbaikars. Workers and employees have backed us, while those fighting for pat (credibility) and pedhi (money) have been handed a big pumpkin. Once again, it is clear that workers and labourers are with us, Shelar said on social media. This is indeed a huge positive sign, he added. Despite the election being conducted through ballot papers, we have won. So-called political analysts, experts alleging vote theft, and self-styled fearless speakers have been exposed. Mumbaikars are with us, and Mumbai is ours, Shelar asserted. Echoing his views, BJP state chief spokesperson Keshav Upadhye said the outcome underscored the waning influence of the Thackeray cousins. The poll came amid speculation of a possible alliance between the Sena (UBT) and the MNS for the forthcoming local body polls in the state. Lad in a post on X said, The Thackeray brand turned out to be zero in the BEST employees' cooperative credit society election. The boss of the brand could not even win a single seat. We have shown them their position. Shinde, who had led a rebellion to split the original Shiv Sena in 2022, also seized on the opportunity to target the. Some had predicted we would not win even one seat (in assembly polls), yet we won 60 of the 80 we contested. When they win elections, EVMs are good, but when they lose, EVMs are bad. Even the BEST union election held on ballot papers proved their claims hollow, he said at an event in Thane. People have done the work of busting the brand. They have backed us, which is why we won the Vidhan Sabha polls. Mahayuti will win a thumping majority in local body polls, he added. The BEST Employees Cooperative Credit Society Ltd has the civic undertaking's existing and former employees as members, who form the electoral college. The credit society has more than 15,000 members and, for years, was dominated by the BEST Kamgar Sena, which is aligned with the Sena (UBT).

Dahi Handi festival in Maharashtra witnesses historic world record in human pyramid formation

MUMBAI: Maharashtra celebrated the Dahi Handi festival by making a historic world record with the formation of a ten-tier Govindahuman pyramid in Thane. During the Dahi Handi festival, one Govinda died while tying the rope to climb for Govindas at Mankhurd, while 30 Govindas got injured in different parts of the city in Mumbai. The historic world record was achieved by Jogeshwari's Konkan Nagar Govinda Pathak by forming a 10-tier human pyramid at the Sanskruti Dahi Handi festival in Thane, hosted by Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik. It was this year's first 10-storey pyramid. This pathak also incorporated a Char Ekka' formation. It's a formation where four participants are stacked atop a single person. This feat requires remarkable strength, balance, and coordination. The transport minister, Sarnaik, congratulated the team, saying, This is not a record, it's a sign of focus, teamwork, and organisation. The Govindas have indeed shown skill and commitment. The minister also awarded Rs 25 lakh as a cash prize to this mandal that made the world record by forming a tenth-tierhuman pyramid. Earlier, the ninth-tier formation of a human pyramid was done by Jai Jawan Mitra Mandal Govinda for five consecutive years. But Jogeshwari's Konkan Nagar Govinda Pathak, by forming a 10-tier human pyramid, broke all previous records. In Mankhurd, a 32-year-old Govinda named Shivkumar Chaurdhari, losthis balance and died while tying the rope. In the city civic hospital, 30 Govindas who got injured were admitted for medical treatment. Among them, 15 received treatment and were discharged. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut hints at alliance between Thackeray brothers for local body elections

MUMBAI: After Raj Thackeray asserted the Thackeray brand in Mumbai, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said that both the Thackeray brothers-- Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray--after joining hands over the language row, are set to join hands politically for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and other municipal corporation elections. Sanjay Raut said that Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS are in talks to tie for the upcoming BMC, Nasik, Thane, and other municipal corporation elections. He said that no one stops both brothers from coming together and fighting for the Marathi manoos. Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS, both not only contest the upcoming local body including the BMC election, together, but we are also confident to win these corporations as well. Some people are trying to disrupt the alliance of the Thackeray brothers, but no wild power can stop them from coming together now, Raut said. Earlier, while addressing his party workers, Raj Thackeray said that in Mumbai, the Thackeray brand is important and has strong relevance, and he asked his party workers to prepare for the local body elections. Sanjay Raut criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that before 2014, India was a better country, but since Modi arrived in Delhi, India has fallen into big potholes. Modi has destroyed the countrys economy and social fabric. Earlier, people were religious and spiritual, but Modi and the BJP have been converting them into fanatics. And fanaticism is dividing the country on religious and caste lines. This is the British people's strategy: divide and rule and destroy. Therefore, the freedom of our country is in trouble, Raut alleged. He also said PM Modi gave the call for Atmanirbhar Bharat, but he forgot that the Congress party had first coined the slogan of Swadeshi. Modi has destroyed our foreign policy. Once the US was close to India is imposing a tariff and threatening more percentage of tariff percentage. The US president is closer to our enemy state of Pakistan. This is harsh irony, Raut said. He also criticised Modi for not speaking against Trump and for not confronting China. In the backdrop of vote theft allegations by the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Raj Thackeray warned his people to check the voting list, the added and deleted names from the voting list.
