Strategy and gambling don’t often mix. Most gambling games are based entirely on luck, and experienced gamblers understand this as a fact. However, with the emergence of online casinos, there are those who are just now exploring the relevance of strategy in gambling. Slots are especially fascinating for people who want to tie some sort of gambling system in the hobby.
Since their existence, slots have remained pretty consistent in terms of gameplay. So, if one is able to crack the code of the game, they might find a sure-fire way to win. But, the question is if that is even possible. As we said before, online slots are pretty consistent in their gameplay, and thus far, nobody has found a winning strategy. So, is strategic thinking even relevant when playing slots on the internet?
Strategy and Slots
For all intents and purposes, slots are entirely luck-based, as you can see for yourself if you enjoy a round of pokies. The spins rely on nothing but luck, and it is difficult to see how strategy is ever going to change that. While many gamblers have a hard time accepting that strategy and slots don’t mix, that is in fact the case. Any experienced gambler will tell you that strategic thinking is not relevant in slots.
The reason is that both online and land-based slots operate on something called a random number generator. The software is designed to create random outcomes, based on the numbers it generates. Of course, randomness cannot be controlled. Therefore, strategy cannot be used in slots. Or, perhaps it is more accurate to say that winning strategies are not very useful.
Betting Systems
Because of the fact that roulette is very similar to slots, in that it is also an entirely luck-based game whose outcome cannot be controlled, gamblers have come up with an alternative to a winning strategy. The alternative in question is a betting system, that relies on controlling your own bankroll, rather than the outcome of the game itself.
Betting systems have been pretty successfully used in slot games, and will likely continue to be used for years to come. After all, taking control of the bankroll is one of the best ways that players can stay in control of the game. Though there are plenty of betting systems designed to preserve your bankroll, the most popular ones are those that are designed for aggressive betting.
Progressive Betting Systems
The most popular betting strategies are called “progressive betting systems.” Of the many progressive strategies, the two most popular ones are the Fibonacci, named after the mathematical sequence of the same name, and the Martingale system, which is by far the most popular. The idea behind these systems is that eventually, in the case of a win, a gambler will surely win and flip heads.
However, it is also worth knowing that many gamblers who use these progressive systems, end up losing immense cash. This is because progressive strategies are extremely aggressive and focus on betting large sums in a short period of time. For many, luck does not smile on them, and they end up taking a massive hit to their bankroll.
