Summer Fashion Tips: If you want to shine in the summer season then keep these things in mind while getting ready.

In the scorching heat, everyone wants to wear loose and comfortable clothes. Generally, during the summer season, girls want to wear an outfit that is fashionable and also feels cool. In such a situation, you should know about those colors and fabrics, which will make you feel cool in the summer. You adopt many methods to protect yourself from the scorching sun and heat, but while trying to beat the heat, you are not able to look stylish even if you want to. Maintaining fashion in this season is also a difficult task, but by keeping in mind the color and fabric of your outfit, you can not only beat the heat but also get a cool and attractive look. Due to rising temperatures in this season, wearing light clothes is preferred. Some women wear only cotton clothes this season because they do not understand other fabrics, but you can wear outfits made of many fabrics other than cotton. Although light and pastel-colored outfits are worn more in this season, you should also pay special attention to the style, trend, color, and quality of the fabric while choosing the outfit. Minimal look this time This summer, a minimal look will be in fashion. A minimal fashion look inspires minimal makeup, modestly worn clothes, light colors, and simplicity. Therefore, instead of wearing heavily embroidered or dark-colored outfits, you should choose light-colored light-weight outfits. Style in college You can carry a floral dress or jumpsuit in college. These are very comfortable and suit every body type. You can pair a short top with linen pants. These make you look stylish. You should prefer sleeveless and sleeve clothes at home, but wear sleeve clothes or shrugs while going out of the house or going to college. With this, you will be protected from sunlight and heat and will also be protected from tanning caused by strong sunlight. You can also wear dungarees or a frock dress. If you want to wear an Indian outfit then a Sharara suit will be a good option for you. Amazing layering You can make layering your style statement. You can look different and stylish by wearing a scarf, cotton jacket with kurta, top, T-shirt, shirt, jeans, palazzo or skirt, etc. every day. You should choose contrasting colors for layering. You can wear it both in college or office. Pastel colors and patterns You can choose lemon, moonlight pink, peach, sky blue, saffron, yellow, orange, lavender, sky blue, light, or pastel green colors for your outfit. The outfits of this color look very beautiful in summer, especially if you like to wear suits or Kurtis. Pastel colors give you a simple look. You will also find many shades of lavender and blue. These give you a very classy and elegant look. You must keep white-colored outfits in your wardrobe. This color does not sting the eyes and also protects from heat. You can also try a white short dress, maxi dress, Lucknowi Anarkali suit, saree, shirt, skirt, trousers, etc. While choosing prints, you can also try checks, stripes, and geometric prints. You should not wear more than two patterns together. This will spoil your look. What is the fabric like Wearing cotton clothes is always a good option, as they absorb sweat easily. You will find many varieties of cotton clothes. Your look will look royal and different in pure cotton. Apart from cotton, you can also wear rayon, linen, chiffon, muslin, hosiery, organza, or georgette fabric. Hats and Sunglasses Wearing stylish sunglasses and a hat will not only protect you from the scorching sun but will also make you look more stylish. Slippers and accessories To provide coolness and comfort to your feet, choose light and airy slippers. Stylish flip-flops, slides, or strappy sandals will make you look beautiful. You can carry light accessories. You can carry small beads rosary or thin layering chains, light pearl bracelets, and small stud earrings both in college and office. For the perfect office look If you are looking for a perfect outfit for the office then formal pants with a cotton shirt can be a great option. You can also carry a formal kurta with pants. If you want to wear something stylish then choose a cotton maxi dress. It suits everyone and is comfortable too. Apart from this, you can wear a crop top, or tank top with a long skirt. For a casual look, choose a skirt of the same color. You should wear a long kurti, a short kurti, a short top, and a T-shirt with light denim pants, wide-leg pants, and palazzo pants. If you like to wear Indian outfits then you can wear a palazzo or leggings along with a kurti. You can also buy a summer blazer. These are formal in appearance and comfortable to wear. My bowling has not been upto the mark...: MI all-rounder Shepherd ahead of KKR clash

My bowling has not been upto the mark...: MI all-rounder Shepherd ahead of KKR clash Ahead of his side's Indian Premier League (IPL) game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder Romario Shepherd said that his bowling has not been up to the mark and he has been working to make it better. MI and KKR will be locking horns in a high-octane clash at Wankhede Stadium on Friday. KKR is at the second spot in the points table, with six wins and three losses, giving them 12 points. They won their previous clash against Delhi Capitals. MI is at the ninth spot with three wins and seven losses, giving them just six points. They lost their previous game to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Ahead of the game, Shepherd admitted that his bowling has been smashed all over the park and he is sweating it out in nets to make it better. My bowling has not been up to the mark in the tournament so far. So, whenever I get the next opportunity, I can bowl better because, you know, bowling has been going to our park, and, you know, myself is no exception, said Shepherd as quoted by MI's official website. The all-rounder has bowled 10 overs this season and hit for 129 runs. He has taken just one wicket so far in this tournament. You know, each place you go, you have to try and adapt as fast as possible. And, you know, you must have plans, said Shepherd on his bowling. That is why we have team meetings and analysts to analyse where we bowl each batter. Over here, you can mis-execute, execute, and also go for runs. So, sometimes, you cannot judge yourself based only on the run rate. You have to ask yourself if you did exactly what you wanted to do. The batter was better on the day, or if you were bowling, you know, wrong balls at wrong plans. So, I assess as quickly as possible and devise a plan, he concluded his point. Shepherd also said that the team at this point in the tournament, has to play with an aim to win and put the very idea of scoring points behind. We just have to play to win. That is how we play cricket: to win each game. So it does not matter how many points we can score, said Shepherd. The hard-hitting all-rounder returns to Wankhede, where he had smashed 32 runs in the final over against Delhi Capitals (DC). Asked if he could replicate it, Shepherd said, You know, 32 runs in one over is hard. And you will not get those 32 runs out every game. The expectation is high. So you set the bar high, and people expect you to go there and hit each ball for six and get a boundary and stuff like that. Unfortunately, in the game of cricket, that does not happen. And, you know, sometimes you've got to rock and roll with that, he added. Kolkata Knight Riders Squad: Philip Salt(w), Sunil Narine, Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer(c), Venkatesh Iyer, Andre Russell, Ramandeep Singh, Mitchell Starc, Vaibhav Arora, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakaravarthy, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Suyash Sharma, Anukul Roy, Manish Pandey, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Dushmantha Chameera, Allah Ghazanfar, Sakib Hussain, Sherfane Rutherford, Chetan Sakariya, Nitish Rana, Srikar Bharat Mumbai Indians Squad: Ishan Kishan(w), Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya(c), Nehal Wadhera, Tim David, Mohammad Nabi, Gerald Coetzee, Piyush Chawla, Jasprit Bumrah, Nuwan Thushara, Naman Dhir, Shams Mulani, Dewald Brevis, Kumar Kartikeya, Luke Wood, Shreyas Gopal, Harvik Desai, Romario Shepherd, Arjun Tendulkar, Shivalik Sharma, Anshul Kamboj, Akash Madhwal, Kwena Maphaka. A day after the T20 WC snub, Sandeep continues good works with Rajasthan

CHENNAI: The only thing you can control is your hard work and never give up attitude. Hours after the T20 World Cup snub, medium pacer Sandeep Sharma posted the message on Instagram on Wednesday. It's not that Sandeep, who had played only two T20Is for India that too was back in 2015, was dead sure of his selection for the marquee event. Already 30 plus, he has reached that stage of his career where such call-ups usually dry down. Despite the crude fact, hope remains and the bowler from Patiala (Punjab) too was hopeful. And why not? In his role as the death-overs specialist with the table toppers Rajasthan Royals, he had bowled one of the best spells of this season to date. He sent back Mumbai Indian batters one by one in Jaipur a few days ago bagging 5/18 from his four overs. He is also one of the three bowlers, who have claimed a five-wicket haul this season so far. The other two are Mumbai's Jasprit Bumrah and Yash Thakur of Lucknow Super Giants. What's more important is the fact that Sandeep has achieved all this while bowling with quite a good economy rate of 6.83 (by Thursday's match). Only Bumrah (6.40) and Liam Livingstone of Punjab Kings (6.22) have a better economy rate than Sandeep among the bowlers who have played five or more matches till Thursday. Given the responsibility assigned to him by the team last season, where he first went unsold before being picked up by the inaugural champions as a replacement player, Sandeep has been working mostly on slower bouncers and yorkers. Knuckle ball is another option, which he has been using efficiently. But it's not easy, especially for someone who loves to ball with the new ball in powerplays. ...the management had made it clear to me where I would be bowling majority of my overs so I worked mostly on slower bouncers and yorkers in the nets. I anyway knew I wouldn't be bowling much with the new ball because Boulty (Trent Boult) is a world-class bowler, one of the best in the world, the right-arm bowler had said after Rajasthan's last match against Lucknow. The ongoing season, however, did not startthe way Sandeep would have hoped. After the first two matches, a side strain kept him out of action for the next five matches. He returned with a bang with a Player of the Match winning performance against Mumbai. Against Lucknow, he remained economical thus making sure Rajasthan did not have to chase a target beyond 200.The good show continued on Thursday as Sandeep bowled miserly giving away 31 runs from his four overs and claimed the wicket of impact substitute and his Punjab teammate Amolpreet Singh. With others around him going for eight runs or more per over, he stuck to his plan and dried up the flow of runs at least for the first three overs he bowled. Travis Head's 44-ball 58 and Nitish Kumar Reddy's 76 off 42 apart from some late firworks from Heinrich Klaasen (42 off 19) meant SRH put up 201 runs on the board. Rajasthan agonisingly fell short by 1 run losing only the second match this season. A win would have been the cherry on the cake for Sandeep, who played his role to near perfection that too only a day after being ignored by the selectors, but it was not to be.

Amit Shah slams dynastic SP, Congress for skipping Ram temple opening

LUCKNOW: Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the opposition bloc, especially the Samajwadi Party, over dynastic politics while addressing poll rallies in Badaun, Bareilly, and Sitapur on Thursday. He slammed Congress and SP leaders for refusing to attend the consecration of Ram Lalla. In Badaun, Shah criticised the Samajwadi Party for fielding Aditya Yadav, the son of senior SP leader and Akhilesh Yadavs uncle Shivpal Yadav, after much flip-flopping. He accused Akhilesh Yadav of giving tickets to five family members, including himself, his wife Dimple Yadav, and cousins Akshay Yadav, Aditya Yadav, and Dharmendra Yadav, questioning whether no other Yadav besides the first family of SP was capable of contesting elections. Shah addressed a public rally in Budaun, emphasizing that the upcoming election is to give Prime Minister Narendra Modi a third mandate and to tackle issues like terrorism, Naxalism, and crime in Uttar Pradesh. In Bareilly, Shah criticised Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Akhilesh Yadav for not attending the Ram Temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, accusing them of prioritizing their vote banks over national interests. Continuing his tirade against Congress, Shah stated that the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi would end w i t h a C o n g re s s Dhoondho Yatra after June 4. He praised the governance of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, highlighting improvements in law and order and development under his leadership. Shah assured the people of Sitapur that the BJP would protect the reservation provisions for SC, ST, and OBC communities guaranteed by the Indian Constitution. He criticised Congress for allegedly favouring Muslims over other communities and accused them of divisive politics.

BJP scramble to save Sikri fort from popular Kargil war veterans Hand

LUCKNOW: Known for being the seat of the famous Sufi saint Salim Chishti and the fort of Mughal Emperor Akbar, Fatehpur Sikri is the youngest parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh. It was carved out of Agra in 2008. BJPs Rajkumar Chahar had won it in 2019 with a thumping five lakh-plus vote margin. But this time around, the contest seems to be evenly poised between the BJP and the Congress. Sikri goes to polls on May 7. Congress candidate Ram Nath Sikarwar popularly known as Fauji Baba is giving a tough fight to Chahar, who is reeling under anti-incumbency besides intra-party rebellion. In 2019, Chahar was a giant killer, having defeated Raj Babbar, the then state president of the Congress. But now Chahar, the national chairman of the BJPs Kisan Morcha, is caught in a double whammy. Apart from Sikarwar, Chahar is also facing a tough challenge from Rameshwar Chaudhury, son of sitting BJP MLA Babulal Chaudhury. Rameshwar has raised the flag of revolt and is contesting as an independent. He is believed to have better clout than Chahar among the Jat voters. The BJP recently expelled Rameshwar after all efforts to pacify him failed. Chahar also has to deal with grumpy Kashtriyas because of a perceived slight against the community by the BJPs candidate in Gujarats Rajkot, Parshottam Rupala. Since Sikarwar is a Kshatriya, he is getting resonance from the community. To save the seat, senior BJP leaders like Rajnath Singh, a prominent Thakur face, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are holding multiple rallies in Sikri and Agra to placate the Kshatriyas. The BJP has also roped in retired Air Chief Marshal R K S Bhadoria, another Thakur from Bah who recently joined the party, to pacify the Thakurs. Bhadoria held a roadshow for the BJP candidate. Chahar is mainly relying on the Modi-Yogi factor to stay afloat. As for the Congress, its leadership is trying to put in more efforts to wrest the seat. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi is scheduled to hold a roadshow in Fatehpur Sikri on Friday. Besides, Sikarwar has his own following. He resides in the Kheragarh village, often stays in a village temple and travels in a four-wheeler. A Kargil war hero, he retired from the Army in 2004. His popularity, especially among the deprived sections, is giving Chahar more worries. The BSP has fielded Ram Niwas Sharma, a Brahmin, making it a quadrangular contest. Sikri has 1.75 lakh Jats, 3.5 lakh Thakurs, 3 lakh Brahmins, 1.4 lakh Kushwahas, 1.25 lakh Nishads, and Muslims and Vaishyas at 1 lakh each.

SRH script nervy one-run win over RR in last-ball IPL thriller

Hyderabad : Bhuvneshwar Kumar did the star turn with a sensational final over as Sunrisers Hyderabad pulled off a heist, stunning Rajasthan Royals by just one run in a last-ball thriller to keep their IPL playoff hopes alive, here on Thursday.Needing two to win off the last delivery, Bhuvneshwar (3/41) trapped Rovman Powell (27) with a full toss to leave RR stranded at 200 for seven while chasing a target of 202. Opting to bat, Nitish Reddy (76 not out) and Travis Head (58) produced explosive fifties, while Heinrich Klassen made an unbeaten 19-ball 42 to power Sunrisers Hyderabad to 201 for three. Things were looking up when Bhuvneshwar removed Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson for ducks in the opening over to leave RR at 1 for 2. However, youngsters Yashasvi Jaiswal (67) and Riyan Parag (77) came up with counterattacking fifties on way to a massive 134-run partnership to lay the foundation of the runchase. But once the duo was back in the hut, Shimron Hetmyar (13) hit a four and a six as it seemed like a regulation chase but T Natarajan got rid off Hetmyar, who perished at long-on and then skipper Pat Cummins removed Dhruv Jurel, who was caught at deep square leg in the 19th over. The sudden loss of wickets gave SRH hope of a turnaround but Powell produced a six in the last ball of the 19th over to bring the equation down to 13 off six balls. The West Indian kept a calm head to bring it down to 2 off the last ball but Bhuvneshwar denied him the glory. Following the win, SRH snapped their two-game losing streak and moved to the fourth spot with 12 points, same as Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, while RR stayed at the top with 16 points. Chasing the total, Jaiswal and Parag were dropped early in their innings and they capitalised on the reprieves to script a quick recovery. Parag broke the shackles in third over when he carted Bhuvneshwar for two fours and a six. Jaiswal then blasted Marco Jansen for two boundaries after Cummins spilled a straight forward catch. Parag, who was dropped on 24 by Abhishek Sharma, hammered Cummins for another maximum, before carting Jansen for two more fours. Cummins finally introduced spin into the attack but Jaiswal smashed Shahbaz Ahmed for a four to complete his fifty. Three balls later, Parag produced a reverse sweep four to reach his milestone in 32 balls. Jaiwal then played a T Natarajan delivery onto the stumps, while two overs later Parag was holed out at long-on. Earlier, Head forged a 96-run stand off 57 balls for the third wicket with Nitish, who also added another 70 off 32 balls with Klassen to take SRH across the 200-mark for the fifth time this season. Head, who was dropped by Parag in the first ball of the innings, hit six fours and three sixes, while Nitish smashed eight maximums and three fours during his brutal assault. Playing his 300th game, Yuzvendra Chahal, who has been picked for the T20 World Cup, was on the firing line as he conceded 62 in his quota of four overs. Avesh Khan (2/39) produced the first breakthrough, having Abhishek (12) caught at deep midwicket. Sandeep Sharma (1/31) then claimed a first-ball wicket, removing Anmolpreet Singh (5) as SRH scored 37 for 2 in the powerplay, their lowest this IPL. The spin duo of Chahal and R Ashwin (0/36), however, disappointed as the batters milked them for runs to set SRH on the road to recovery. Chahal had a horrible night as Head smashed him for two sixes and a four during an 18-run over after he came on to bowl immediately following the powerplay. The leg-spinner was then taken apart by Nitish, who plundered him for two sixes and two fours to accumulate 21 runs. Nitish, who also clobbered Ashwin and Avesh for two maximums, then sent Sandeep sailing over extra cover, while Head pulled Avesh for another six in the 15th over. The Australian, however, played the pacer onto his middle stump as SRH slipped to 131/3. New man Klassen then joined the party, sending Chahal into the orbit with back-to-back sixes. When Trent Boult was back, Klassen picked him for two fours, while blasting another six off Sandeep.

SRH Snatch Thrilling One-Run Victory over RR in Last-Ball IPL Nail-biter

SRH Snatch Thrilling One-Run Victory over RR in Last-Ball IPL Nail-biter Bhuvneshwar Kumar did the star turn with a sensational final over as Sunrisers Hyderabad pulled off a heist, stunning Rajasthan Royals by just one run in a last-ball thriller to keep their IPL playoff hopes alive, here on Thursday. Needing two to win off the last delivery, Bhuvneshwar (3/41) trapped Rovman Powell (27) with a full toss to leave RR stranded at 200 for seven while chasing a target of 202. IPL 2024: Nitish, Bhuvneshwar Star As SRH Clinch Dramatic One-run Win Over RR (Ld)

Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium: Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked a brilliant 3-41, while Pat Cummins and T Natarajan took two wickets each as Sunrisers Hyderabad came out of nowhere to clinch a dramatic and thrilling one-run win over Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday. After Nitish Reddy was outstanding in a magnificent display of stroke-play to hit an unbeaten 42-ball 76, while Travis Head made 58 off 44 balls as the duo carried SRH to a huge 201/3, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took two wickets in a brilliant first over and took out Rovman Powell on the final ball as the hosts won by the barest of margins. Despite that initial setback of losing Jos Buttler and captain Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswals 40-ball 67 and Riyan Parags 49-ball 77 helped RR be in the hunt of clinching an impressive win. But once the duos 133-run partnership was broken, SRH roared their way back in the game to seal it and complete a remarkable comeback, giving RR its first defeat while chasing in the season. The nail-biting win takes SRH to fourth place, where they are tied with Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants on 12 points. RRs chase of 202 was rocked by Bhuvneshwar in the opening over having Buttler nicking behind to wide slip fielder for a golden duck, while Samson was castled by an inswinger rattling stumps through the gate. From there, Jaiswal, with his timing and Parag, with his fabulous bat-swing, played breathtaking strokes from both ends against Bhuvneshwar, Pat Cummins, Marco Jansen and T Natarajan. They also had luck on their side - Jaiswal was dropped by Cummins at mid-off and Parags chance was shelled by Abhishek Sharma at extra cover, as RR ended power-play at 60/2. Jaiswal and Parag rampage continued after power-play, before reaching their respective fifties in 30 and 31 balls respectively in the 11th over. But Jaiswal was gone for 67 off 40 balls, playing on to his stumps off Natarajan. Parag hit two sixes and a four before holing out to long-on for 77 off 49 balls to Cummins. Though Rovman Powell found a few boundaries, SRHs fightback continued as Shimron Hetmyer hit a low full toss straight to long-on off Natarajan, followed by Dhruv Jurel, who had a left hamstring strain while fielding, flicking straight to deep square leg off Cummins. Cummins bowled a superb 19th over, giving away only seven runs, despite Powell lofting a six over extra cover on the last ball. With 12 runs needed to win off the final over, and four men outside the 30-yard circle due to slow over-rate, Powell scooped Bhuvneshwar for four. With two runs needed off the final ball, Bhuvneshwar trapped Powell plumb lbw with a low full toss on middle and leg to complete a stunning win for SRH over the table-toppers. Previosuly, on a fresh pitch, with some grip available for bowlers, Head hit a slow-ish fifty. But Reddy dazzled by hitting three fours and eight sixes, with some of his maximums hit straight down the ground and over cover enthralling the home fans. Later, Heinrich Klaasen hit an unbeaten 42 off 19, laced with three fours and as many sixes, to take SRH past 200 for the fifth time this season, with their last 12 overs yielding 153 runs. For RR, who conceded a 200+ total for just the second time in this competition, Avesh Khan was impressive in his 2-39, while Sandeep Sharma was tidy in his 1-31. Electing to bat first, Head could have been out on the first ball if Parag hadnt shelled the chance at backward point off Trent Boult. With Ravichandran Ashwin beating Head and Abhishek via deliveries gripping and bouncing, a wicket looked imminent for RR. Avesh reaped the reward of platform set by Boult and Ashwin when he had Abhishek pulling straight to deep square leg. Sandeep also joined Avesh as a wicket-taker when Anmolpreet Singh chipped straight to diving mid-wicket, as SRH ended power-play at 37/2. Head opened up by cutting Yuzvendra Chahal for four, before pulling the leg-spinner for back-to-back sixes and whipping him through the leg-side for another boundary. While Head brought up his fifty in 37 balls, Nitish began his onslaught by muscling Ashwin for back-to-back sixes, followed by hitting Chahal for two fours and as many sixes in the 13th over. Heads knock ended when he shaped for a lap shot off Avesh, but played onto his stumps. Nitish marched on to get his fifty in 30 balls, followed by slog-sweeping and pulling Ashwin for a brace of sixes. From the other end, Klassen was lofting and pulling Chahal for consecutive sixes, as the leg-spinner conceded 62 runs in his four overs. While Nitish took a six and four off Avesh, Klaasen smashed Boult for two fours, before smashing Sandeep for a four and six in the final over to take SRH past 200, which was sufficient for a win by a solitary run at the end - a possibility which no one saw coming after their slow start. Brief Scores: Sunrisers Hyderabad 201/3 in 20 overs (Nitish Reddy 76 not out, Travis Head 58; Avesh Khan 2-39, Sandeep Sharma 1-31) beat Rajasthan Royals 200/7 in 20 overs (Riyan Parag 77, Yashasvi Jaiswal 67; Bhuvneshwar Kumar 3-41, Pat Cummins 2-34) by one run.

T20 WC: Virat's Strike-rate Is Not A Concern For Agarkar, Defends Making Rohit Captain

Indian Premier League: There may be a lot of concern being expressed over Virat Kohli's low strike rate in the Indian Premier League, but that was not the issue for the national selection committee as it picked the former India captain for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup to be played in the United States and the West Indies from June 1. Playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Kohli has scored 500 runs in 10 matches so far in the IPL 2024 at an outstanding average of 71.43, hitting a century and four fifties. However, he has a strike rate of 147-49, which has at times gone down a notch or two, which many people feel has slowed down RCB, thus resulting in the former skipper facing criticism. Kohli has maintained that he has been essaying the role assigned to him by the team management, which is to hold the innings together. Though Kohli has led the batting charts, RCB are languishing at the bottom of the points table with just six points from 10 matches. On Thursday, the Chairman of the Selection Committee, Ajit Agarkar said Virat's strike rate was not a part of the discussion. I don't think we have been discussing it yet, no. Look, he's been in great form, fortunately in the IPL, so no concerns there at all with regards to how it's going in the IPL. You're still going to a World Cup, it's still international cricket. There is still that gap there, so you've got to prepare knowing that there is that gap there. That's where experience does matter a lot. So, no, I mean, if the tournament turns out to be like how the IPL is, I think we've still got enough in the team - the balance or the power - that you can match that. So no, there's no real point in overthinking. You look to try and take the positives that are happening in the IPL, form of some of the guys, some of the newer guys coming through those things. But at the end of the day, when you turn up for a World Cup game, the pressures are a little bit different, said Agarkar. The selection committee chairman also defended picking Rohit Sharma as captain despite him now leading his franchise. Generally, as selectors, you want a leader. Rohit has been a terrific leader. There have been six months between the 50-overs World Cup and this one. I know Hardik had been leading in a few series before that. Rohits form in the World Cup...Rohits a great player. It's not as if its forced on us. (There was) A little bit of a challenge. You try and plan before the IPL starts. We had a fair idea of what we were looking for. In IPL, you keep track oft he fitness levels of players. But if you start getting swayed by 3-4 weeks of cricket, there is something wrong with your thinking. All performances are noticed but it will help us in future anyway, he added. The former India pacer, who was part of the squad that won the 2007 T20 World Cup under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, also defended their decision to omit K.L Rahul despite his stellar performance in the ongoing IPL 2024. The main question the committee faced was related to the non-selection of K.L Rahul, the Lucknow Super Giants captain who is currently among the top five scorers in IPL 2024 with 406 runs to his name. Rahul is quite experienced and has been a consistent performer in the format as LSG captain and has been part of the Indian T20 teams earlier too. Though Rishabh Pant was considered a sure-shot selection after he made an impressive return from a 15-month injury break at the IPL, Rahul was in contention for the second spot. The selectors, however, opted for Kerala batter Sanju Samson as the second option ahead of Rahul. KL is a terrific player. We were looking at someone who bats in the middle. At the moment, he is batting at the top. Sanju, we like to believe he has the ability to come down the order if need be. Rishabh (Pant) is batting down the order for Delhi Capitals. It's about the slots we need. We felt these two are better and have spent more time down the order which might be needed at the World Cup, said Agarkar.

T20 WC: KL Rahul Was Ignored Because There Was No Spot, He Did Not Fit The Combinations, Says Ajit Agarkar

T20 World Cup: The national selectors left out wicketkeeper-batter K.L Rahul from the 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup because there was no spot for him and he did not fit the combination, said Ajit Agarkar, chairman of the national selection committee on Thursday. As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup, set to start in the United States and the Caribbean on June 1, the decisions taken by the selection committee raised many questions. The main question was related to the non-selection of K.L Rahul, the Lucknow Super Giants captain who is currently among the top five scorers in the Indian Premier League with 406 runs to his name. Rahul is quite experienced and has been a consistent performer in the format as captain of Lucknow Super Giants. Though Rishabh Pant was considered a sure-shot selection after he made an impressive return from a 15-month injury break at the IPL. The selectors, however, opted for Kerala batter Sanju Samson as the second option ahead of Rahul. Ajit Agarkar said they could not find a place for K.L Rahul in the middle-order because of the presence of Rishabh Pant, Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya. We feel that Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson were more suited for the World Cup. KL Rahul was not fitting in the combination, there was no slot for him, said Ajit Agarkar on Thursday. Skipper Rohit Sharma said the previous selection committee had deliberated a lot on the need to concentrate on selecting players based on the upcoming ICC tournament. He said that they had decided to concentrate on players needed for the specific format and decided to give chances to players based on that rationale. He said that they had picked up Shivam Dube based on his performance in the IPL. Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya as allrounders and Suryakuamr Yadav as the fulcrum of the middle-order, hence there was no spot for Rahul.

ANALYSIS-Low turnout, apathy in India election a worry for Modi's campaign

ANALYSIS-Low turnout, apathy in India election a worry for Modi's campaign A lower turnout so far in Indias long general election has rattled Prime Minister Narendra Modis campaign managers, raising into question whether his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies can achieve the landslide victory predicted by opinion polls just one month ago. The lack of momentum has been partly blamed on apathy among party workers believing victory is assured and seems to have prompted Modi to change tack in his campaign speeches to try to fire up the Hindu majority, the partys support base, and get them out to voting stations, political analysts said. The last major opinion poll had predicted that the BJP and its allies could win three-fourths of parliament's 543 seats at stake on the back of Modi's popularity, strong economic growth, handouts and the inauguration of a Hindu temple on a contested site in the Hindu majority country. At the last election in 2019, the BJP won 303 seats and its allies won around 50 seats. Its slogan before this year's election began was Ab ki baar, 400 paar or This time, above 400. More than half a dozen BJP leaders and political analysts that Reuters spoke to said a lack of momentum in the two initial phases of the seven-phase election have dampened hopes of a huge majority for the party, although they said it was still likely to retain power in the world's most populous nation. What could be affected is the BJP's aim to get a two-thirds majority in the chamber, or 362 seats, which would let the party usher in far-reaching constitutional changes. The fall in polling turnout is mainly due to apathy among party workers and voters, said Sanjay Sharma, one of the members of the BJP's campaign committee in the northern state of Haryana. Some candidates were being affected by an anti-incumbency wave, he said, adding the party was facing a ough fight in the state where it won all ten parliamentary seats in 2019. Modi himself has shifted in his campaign speeches from a focus on the administration's successes in his 10-year tenure to targeting minority Muslims and the opposition Congress party. After the first phase, we saw a definite change of strategy by the PM...delivering Islamophobic kind of speeches, said Arati Jerath, a Delhi-based political commentator. Obviously, he has now decided to polarise the campaign. A total of 190 seats went to the polls on April 19 and 27 with approximate voter turnout at about 66%, the Election Commission has said. The number was only slightly lower than the last election in 2019, although there was a drop of 5-8 percentage points in voting in the BJP and allied-ruled states Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan. The BJP had been hoping for a high turnout, believing that would signal that its supporters had voted in force. Polling ends on June 1 and votes will be counted on June 4. The government bans the publication of exit polls until all voting is concluded. 'BELOW EXPECTATIONS' Gopal Krishna Agarwal, BJP's national spokesman, said the voting numbers were elow expectations but would not have much impact on the final results. Many voters have become lethargic as they are convinced about the victory of the party, he said. The BJP's shift in tack may have backfired with some voters. We have lost interest because the BJP is seeking votes by communalising the campaign, and not on its performance, said Vikash Kumar, a voter in Rajnandgaon in the state of Chhattisgarh. Kamal Abbas, a Muslim shopkeeper in the city of Lucknow, the capital of politically vital Uttar Pradesh state, reflected the sense of apathy. He said he would not waste time and money to travel to his hometown Prayagraj to vote as Modi's party was set to win the election. Minority votes do not stand anywhere in the majoritarian government... there is no point in wasting time, he said. Anirudh Singh, one of the district campaign managers of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, said the party would have reaped rich electoral dividends if the election was held during February-March, when fervour over the construction of the Ram Temple was at its peak. The party has failed to encash public support for Modi after the inauguration of the temple, said Singh, noting that the religious feel-good mood had by and large been replaced by issues like jobs and inflation. So far there's neither a communal wave, nor a Ram wave, nor a Modi wave in the election, said Jerath, the political commentator, noting Modi would have to re-invigorate his party workers and supporters if he hoped for a sweep. After being battered by Modi in the two last general elections, opposition parties are hopeful of a better performance. The shift in the language and style of Modi's campaign reflected a sense of nervousness, said Jairam Ramesh, a Congress party general secretary. The initial voting trends show there is no Modi wave. In states where we were wiped out in 2019, this time the trends are encouraging, he said. Gilles Verniers, a political analyst who teaches at Amherst College in Massachusetts, said the BJP appeared to have revised its expectations and was feeling a bit rattled at the moment. But it's still a very long campaign. There's still room for events and surprises that may alter the course of the election, he said. The balance of probability continues to tilt in favour of the BJP, but not maybe as strongly as they would have hoped. IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians Hope To Script A Miracle As They Return Home For KKR Clash (Preview)

Kolkata Knight Riders: With their campaign in disarray following seven defeats in 10 matches, five-time winners Mumbai Indians return home after three successive away defeats in four games for their next three home matches in the IPL 2024, starting with a clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday. MI are currently tied for the bottom spot with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, both have six points from three wins -- they are placed ninth on NRR. Kolkata Knight Riders, on the other hand, are second in the points table with 12 points from nine matches with 12 points. Though Mumbai have lost quite a lot of battles, the war is not over yet, they still have faint chances. They need a miracle to make it to the next stage this season. Set to meet KKR twice within eight days (they will play them again at the Eden Gardens on May 11), Hardik Pandya's MI will hope to win their remaining four matches and hope other results go in their favour. Four wins in their remaining games will take them to 14 points and keep alive their hopes of making it among the top four to make it to the playoffs. But considering their performance, they face a steep climb to the top as they face KKR twice besides Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants in their next four matches. All three teams are in contention for the playoff spots and have everything to play for as the tournament enters in the mad scramble for the playoff spots. At this moment, table toppers Rajasthan Royals seem in a comfortable position with 16 points from nine matches. Mumbai, on the other hand, have had an indifferent season so far, starting with three defeats and coming into Friday's clash with KKR after three losses in a row -- losing to Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. Their defeat in their last match against LSG was particularly disappointing as they were restricted to a paltry 144/7 in 20 overs and though their bowlers did fight back, a four-wicket loss really exposed all the problem areas in the squad. The batting unit, despite the presence of players like India captain and six-time IPL winner Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, considered the best player in this format, Tim David, Hardik Pandya and Romario Shepherd. Tilak Verma is currently their top scorer with 343 runs from 10 matches and a strike of 153.81 while Rohit Sharma is second with 315 runs in 10 innings with 105 not out as his best score. Despite the abundance of talent at their disposal, they have struggled for consistency and their batting has not been up to the mark. On the bowling front, Jasprit Bumrah is currently holding the Purple Cap with 14 wickets from 10 matches, the same as Mustafizur Rahman of Chennai Super Kings and Harshal Patel of Punjab Kings. MI's South African is not far behind with 13 wickets from nine matches. The rest of their bowlers have struggled for success. Coach Mark Boucher and skipper Pandya will be hoping that a return to their home ground will turn their fortunes once again. At the start of the league, they had come back to the Wankhede Stadium after three successive defeats and revived their campaign with three wins in four matches. With a typical Wankhede pitch awaiting them, Pandya will be hoping that his batters, especially Rohit, Ishan and Suryakumar find their mojo back and flourish on the home ground. Rohit had scored his second century in IPL at the Wankhede against CSK in a losing cause here earlier last month. Their top bowler, Bumrah had produced his best figures of 5-21 at the Wankhede and the team will be hoping for him to recreate the magic in the last three matches at home. Their opponents on Friday, KKR are currently with 12 points from nine matches. They have played quite well so far with openers Sunil Narine and Phil Salt both scoring more than 350 runs so far. Narine has scored a hundred and two fifties while Phil Salt has struck four half-centuries so far. They have a strong middle order with the likes of skipper Shreyas Iyer, and Venkatesh Iyer has done reasonably well with Rinku Singh and Andre Russell reprising the role of finisher successfully on a couple of occasions. Narine has been their best bowler so far with 11 wickets from nine matches while Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana too have taken 11 wickets each. Rana, however, is not available for this match as he has been suspended by BCCI for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. Rana was pulled up for breaching Article 2.5 -- a Level 1 offence -- in the clash with Delhi Capitals on Monday (April 29) and was fined 100 percent of his match fee and was suspended for one match. KKR will be banking on their batting might against MI on Friday. A victory in Friday's Match 51 of IPL 2024 will push KKR closer to the top spot while victory for their opponents will revive Mumbai Indians' faint hopes of reaching the play-offs. The two teams have played each other 32 times with Mumbai Indians winning 23 matches and KKR triumphing in nine. But on current form, Kolkata Knight Riders look favourite to win their 10th match in the head-to-head series and improve their chances of advancing to the playoffs. Squads: Mumbai Indians: Ishan Kishan(w), Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya(c), Nehal Wadhera, Tim David, Mohammad Nabi, Piyush Chawla, Luke Wood, Jasprit Bumrah, Nuwan Thushara, Naman Dhir, Shams Mulani, Dewald Brevis, Kumar Kartikeya, Shreyas Gopal, Harvik Desai, Gerald Coetzee, Romario Shepherd, Arjun Tendulkar, Shivalik Sharma, Anshul Kamboj, Akash Madhwal, Kwena Maphaka Kolkata Knight Riders: Philip Salt(w), Sunil Narine, Venkatesh Iyer, Andre Russell, Shreyas Iyer(c), Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Dushmantha Chameera, Varun Chakaravarthy, Harshit Rana (suspended), Suyash Sharma, Anukul Roy, Manish Pandey, Vaibhav Arora, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Mitchell Starc, Allah Ghazanfar, Sakib Hussain, Sherfane Rutherford, Chetan Sakariya, Nitish Rana, Srikar Bharat. Match starts at 7:30 pm on Star Sports (TV) and JioCinema (mobile).

IPL 2024: Mayank Yadav Likely To Miss Remaining League Matches For LSG, Say Sources

Lucknow Super Giants: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mayank Yadav, who walked off the field due to abdominal soreness during the match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday, is likely to miss the remaining league matches of the IPL 2024 as his recovery will take more time than earlier expected, sources told IANS. He is not in bad condition, but his participation in the remaining matches is in doubt even as the franchise wants to secure his service for the major part of the tournament. He went for the scans on Wednesday and the reports are still to come but the medical team has suggested a minimum of three weeks rest. Only then he will fully recover, sources close to the franchise told IANS. Head coach Justin Langer had provided an update on Mayanks injury after Tuesday's match against MI, saying, Looks like he's sore in the same spot, his rehab's been absolutely perfect, he bowled pain-free in the last few weeks or so, he's looked in great condition. We'll have a scan and we'll find out tomorrow. However, sources claimed Mayank was not fit for the match against MI but returned to the playing eleven after missing five matches over three weeks as skipper KL Rahul wanted him in. The 21-year-old pacer hardly looked in his rhythm during Tuesdays encounter as he struggled with his length and mostly bowled fuller deliveries and went for 31 runs in 3.1 runs before claiming the wicket of Mohammad Nabi. The pacer gained the attention of the cricket fraternity with his raw pace in his debut match against Punjab Kings (PBKS). The Delhi-bound pacer continuously bowled above 145 and returned with a figure of 3 for 27 with a top speed of 155.8 km/h. LSG will play their last league match of the tournament against Mumbai Indians on May 17.
