Growing Support for INDIA Bloc Gains Momentum Nationwide: Jharkhand CM

Growing Support for INDIA Bloc Gains Momentum Nationwide: Jharkhand CM Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren on Friday asserted that the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the state will not have any impact on the poll prospects of the INDIA bloc as a ''strong wave'' is sweeping across the country in its favour. Addressing a public meeting at Bodhi Temple Ground here before JMM candidate Samir Mohanty filed his nomination papers from the prestigious Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency, Soren appealed to the masses to vote for INDIA bloc candidates to ''protect the Constitution and democracy''. When asked about the PM's visit, Soren, after Mohanty filed his nomination, told reporters, ''It is election time and any leader can go anywhere for campaigning. However, his visit will not impact the poll prospects of the INDIA bloc.'' PM Modi addressed a public meeting in Chaibasa, the district headquarters of West Singhbhum, on Friday evening in support of BJP candidates Union minister Arjun Munda (Khunti) and Geeta Koda (Singhbhum). ''We will register a historical victory in Jharkhand in the polls,'' Soren asserted. He alleged that 11 lakh ration cards were cancelled in the state when the BJP government was in power. ''Whoever spoke of development were sent behind the bars. Hemant Soren and Arvind Kejriwal were examples,'' he added.

Scorching Heat Wave Grips India, Kalaikunda Swelters at 47.6 Degrees Celsius

Scorching Heat Wave Grips India, Kalaikunda Swelters at 47.6 Degrees Celsius Facing the brunt of an extended heat wave, Kalaikunda in West Bengal recorded a maximum temperature of 47.2 degrees Celsius, the highest ever in April anywhere in the country which reeled under searing heat and stifling humidity on Tuesday. The maximum of 47.2 degrees Celsius at Kalaikunda was 10.4 degrees above the normal for the season, an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said, adding that it marked the prevalence of severe heat wave conditions over the Gangetic West Bengal region. Popular hill stations such as Ugadhmandalam (Ooty) in Tamil Nadu and Matheran in Maharashtra also did not escape the brunt of the scorching summer with the mercury touching 29.4 degrees Celsius and 37 degrees Celsius, respectively. According to the department, 29.4 degrees Celsius was the highest ever maximum temperature recorded at Ooty in April, surpassing the 28.5 degrees Celsius recorded on April 29, 1986. At Matheran, the only automobile-free hill station in the country, the mercury climbed to 37 degrees Celsius, the fourth highest maximum temperature recorded there ever. The hill station, located about 90 km from Mumbai, had recorded the highest ever maximum temperature of 38.5 degrees Celsius on February 6, 1979, followed by 37.4 degrees Celsius on April 2, 1975 and 37.2 degrees Celsius on April 7, 1978. Speaking of records, Churu in Rajasthan had clocked 49.9 degrees Celsius on May 26, 1998 and 49 degrees Celsius on June 5, 2003. Sikar, also in Rajasthan, had recorded a maximum of 49.7 degrees Celsius on June 12, 1993 and 49 degrees Celsius on May 26, 1994. Ajmer had recorded a maximum temperature of 47.4 degrees Celsius on May 19, 1997. The automatic weather station at Baharagora in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand recorded 47.1 degrees. However, long-term weather data was not available for the town to calculate the departure from normal temperatures for the season. Baripada in Odisha sizzled at 46.4 degrees Celsius, 8.9 degrees above the normal, followed by Balasore at 46 degrees Celsius (+10.1 degrees), Panagarh in West Bengal at 45.6 degrees Celsius (+10 degrees), Jamshedpur in Jharkhand at 45.5 degrees Celsius (+5.8 degrees) and Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh at 45 degrees Celsius (+4.2 degrees). Several cities and towns in Odisha, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana recorded temperatures in excess of 44 degrees Celsius. Intensely hot conditions are expected in east India until May 1 and the south peninsular region over the next five days, the IMD said. The threshold for a heat wave is met when the maximum temperature of a weather station reaches at least 40 degrees Celsius in the plains, 37 degrees in the coastal areas, and 30 degrees in the hilly regions, and the departure from normal is at least 4.5 notches. A severe heat wave is declared if the departure from normal exceeds 6.4 notches. The ongoing heat wave spell is the second this month. Heatwave conditions have been prevailing in Odisha since April 15 and in Gangetic West Bengal since April 17, according to the department. Amid the prevailing but weakening El Nino conditions, the IMD had earlier warned of extreme heat during the April-June period, coinciding with the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections. Lakhs of voters had to cope with the searing heat when they stepped out to exercise their franchise in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 26. Voting to elect representatives from 94 constituencies in 12 states will take place on May 7. The weather office has said four to eight heat wave days are expected in different parts of the country in April against a normal of one to three days. Ten to 20 heatwave days are expected against a normal of four to eight in the entire April-June period. The areas and regions predicted to witness a higher number of heat wave days are Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Bihar and Jharkhand. Some places may record more than 20 heatwave days. The intense heat could strain power grids and result in water shortages in parts of India. Global weather agencies, including the IMD, are also expecting La Nina conditions to develop later in the year. El Nino conditions -- periodic warming of surface waters in the central Pacific Ocean -- are associated with weaker monsoon winds and drier conditions in India. La Nina conditions -- the antithesis of El Nino -- lead to plentiful rainfall during the monsoon season. In a mid-April update, the IMD said India would experience above-normal cumulative rainfall in the 2024 monsoon season with La Nina conditions, expected to set in by August-September, being the dominant factor. The monsoon is critical for India's agricultural landscape, with 52 per cent of the net cultivated area dependent on it. It is also crucial for replenishing reservoirs critical for drinking water apart from power generation across the country.

From the INDIA bloc, JMM has fielded its Tundi MLA Mathura Mahto from the Giridih seat and Bahragora legislator Samir Kumar Mohanty from the Jamshedpur seat, while Congress has fielded Anupama Singh, wife for Bermo legislator Jai Mangal Singh, from Dhanbad, Yashaswini Sahay, a political newbie and daughter of former Union minister Subodh Kant Sahay, from Ranchi Lok Sabha seat.

3 of 12 Sitting MLAs from INDIA bloc to Contest Lok Sabha Polls from Jharkhand; BJP Nominates 3

3 of 12 Sitting MLAs from INDIA bloc to Contest Lok Sabha Polls from Jharkhand; BJP Nominates 3 Intriguing dynamics in Jharkhands political landscape has come to the fore in the wake of the candidate lists that have been finalised by the states ruling INDIA bloc and its prime opposition, the BJP. While the INDIA alliance has opted for continuity by nominating seven sitting legislators, the BJP has chosen three MLAs as candidates across the state's 14 Lok Sabha constituencies. These decisions underscore a combination of factors, including trust in incumbent representatives and a perceived shortage of viable contenders. Interestingly, two sitting legislators from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) have decided to contest independently, reflecting potential internal discord within the party. The elections, scheduled to commence on May 13, are poised to witness the participation of 2.56 crore eligible voters in the state. The ruling alliance, comprising the Congress, JMM, RJD, and CPI-ML(L), has delineated seat-sharing arrangements, with Congress contesting seven seats and JMM five. The JMM has strategically fielded four of its sitting legislators for parliamentary constituencies, a move attributed to regional parties' reliance on established leaders for electoral success. Shikaripara MLA Nalin Soren has been nominated for the Dumka Lok Sabha seat, Tundi legislator Mathura Mahto from Giridih, Manoharpur MLA Joba Manjhi from Singhbhum and Baharagora's Samir Kumar Mohanty from Jamshedpur. JMM spokesperson Manoj Pandey told PTI, Several things are involved in the process of selecting a candidate for a particular seat, including feedback of party workers, winnability factor, and opinion of panchayat and block-level committees. After reviewing these factors, candidates were given tickets. Tulu Sarkar, a political observer and former head of the department of Political Science at Ranchi University, underscored the cautious approach of regional parties, which prefer familiar faces over newcomers in crucial electoral battles. Regional parties generally bank on their sitting legislators or established leaders. Since parliamentary polls are fought on a larger prospect, such parties do not want to take risks by bringing new faces. So, here in Jharkhand, we see JMM has fielded the maximum number of its sitting legislators for the Lok Sabha polls, he said. She added that the shortage of suitable candidates is also a major factor among all political parties. In such a situation, parties do not have a choice but to select a candidate whose winning chance is higher. So, sitting legislators emerge as a better option as they already have a base in their respective areas, Sarkar said. Despite assertions of a candidate shortage, JMM spokesperson Manoj Pandey denied any crisis within the party, emphasising confidence in their candidate selection process. There is no dearth of candidates in the party, he said. However, recent developments have added complexity to the political landscape. JMM MLAs Chamra Linda and Lobin Hembrom have announced their candidature as independents, challenging their own party's nominees in select constituencies. While Linda filed his nomination papers as an independent for Lohardaga, which went to Congress as per a seat-sharing pact, Borio MLA Hembrom will contest from Rajmahal against its own party candidate Vijay Hansdak, who is also the sitting MP. The Congress has fielded Mandu MLA Jai Prakash Bhai Patel, who recently switched to the grand old party from the BJP, from Hazaribag Lok Sabha seat, while Poreyahat legislator Pradip Yadav will contest from Godda. Another INDIA bloc partner, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation has reposed faith in Bagodar MLA Vinod Kumar Singh from Koderma. Conversely, the BJP has fielded its Hazaribag legislator Manish Jaiswal for the Hazaribag parliamentary constituency, Baghmara MLA Dulu Mahto from Dhanbad and Jama legislator Sita Soren from Dumka Lok Sabha seat. JMM MLA Sita Soren resigned from the party and as a member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly on March 19 before joining the BJP. An official of the Jharkhand Assembly told PTI that her resignation has not been accepted yet as it was not in a proper format. Her resignation was received through the email ID of her daughter. So, the office has written to the Jama legislator to submit her resignation in proper format by attaching a copy of the earlier resignation letter. A reply from her is still awaited, the official said. BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo told PTI, The party has given tickets to few legislators based on local factors and workers feedback, considerations which are grossly lacking for counterparts in the INDIA bloc. He alleged that the ruling alliance was compelled to give tickets to its MLAs, as they found no suitable candidates who would be interested in contesting the polls against the BJP in the state. Political observers said that the current strength of the Jharkhand assembly is likely to reduce after the Lok Sabha polls as some sitting legislators would go to Parliament. Re-election on the seats, which would go vacant, is unlikely, as the state will go to assembly polls this winter. The current strength of the 81-member Jharkhand assembly is 80. The Gandey assembly seat fell vacant after the resignation of Sarfaraz Ahmad, who was recently elected to Rajya Sabha unopposed.

JMM announces Kalpana Soren as its candidate for Gandey Assembly by-poll

RANCHI: Kalpana Soren, wife of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, will be the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate for Gandey Assembly by-poll, to be heldon May 20. The (JMM) announced the candidates for Gandey Assembly seat and Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat, declaring Kalpana and Samir Mohanty as its candidates respectively. Gandey seat fell vacant in January this year after sitting MLA Sarfaraz Ahmad of the ruling party resigned from the seat. According to JMM sources, Kalpana Soren is likely to file her nomination papers on April 29. Party sources also claimed that Kalpana, who has already taken charge of the party in the absence of her husband, may replace Champai Soren as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand if she gets elected. Kalpana Soren, who projected herself as the JMM leader before the nation during the concluding ceremony of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra for the fist time on March 17 and gave the slogan Jharkhand Jhukega Nahin India Rukega Nahi (Jharkhand will not bow down India will not stop), is said to have been taking almost all key decisions in the party. Once disappointed with the absence of Hemant Soren ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, JMM workers now are quite hopeful that Kalpana's presence will benefit both the party and the alliance as well. Notably, Kalpana has been quite vocal on social media against the BJP after the arrest of her husband, she is now being seen as a strong leader in Jharkhand. JMM leaders have hinted that Champai Soren will be replaced by Kalpana Soren soon after her election to the seat. Giridih MLA Sudivya Kumar Sonu, who is said to be very close to Hemant Soren, has said during a meeting with party workers at Gandey, that they are not going to elect an MLA only, but a leader equivalent to Chief Minister. AICC General secretary and Jharkhand in-charge Ghulam Ahmed Mir has also described Kalpana Soren as CM material saying that the BJP will pay a heavy price for its injustices meted out to political leaders and people.

'Heatwave spell in east India to continue for 5 days': IMD

NEW DELHI: A searing heatwave gripped major parts of India with maximum temperatures ranging from 43 degrees Celsius to 46C in many regions, especially East India. The India Meteorological Department on Sunday forecast severe heatwave spell over East India during the next five days. In North India, Bulandshahar sizzled at 44C and Jharkhands Bhargora at 46 C, according to IMD bulletin. Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar and a few pockets of eastern Uttar Pradesh and Vidharbha have been experiencing heatwaves for the past one week. It will continue like this for another week. A severe heatwave condition will prevail over Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and few pockets of Odisha, IMD said. A heatwave is declared when temperature increases to 40C in plains, 37C in coastal areas and 30C in hilly regions with a departure from normal of at least 4.5C. A severe heatwave is declared with departures from normal of at least 6.5C. Gangetic West Bengal is on the boil where departure of temperatures from normal had been ranging from 4.5C to 7.6C in different districts. In Odisha, departure of temperatures from normal had been ranging from 1.4C to 6.1C. (See table). A newsreader in the Kolkata branch of Doordarshan fainted during on air reporting. The Odisha government on Sunday announced summer vacation for school students from April 25. Bangladesh also closed schools and colleges due to heatwave. Soaring temperature has also been impacting the general election process as the first phase recorded low turnout. Experts say rising temperature is one of the reasons for lower turnout. The Election Commission has already issued an advisory urging voters to take precautions. Central and southern India have also been seething under soaring temperatures. The maximum temperatures observed in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal on Saturday were above normal. The departure of temperatures from normal had been ranging from 3.1C to 7.6C. On Sunday, Baripada and Naupada in Odisha recorded 44.6C and 44C maximum temperature, Bankura and Panagarh in West Bengal reported 44.5c and 44C, Bahargora and Jamshedpur in Jharkhand boiled at 46C and 44.2C. Barackpore in West Bengal reported 43.7 C on Sunday, which was 7.6C departure from normal. Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh reported 43 C on Saturday, which was 7.6 C departure from normal. This is an established pattern that the eastern region experiences heatwaves first, said a scientist. Hot weather will gradually move towards Northwest India and parts of east Uttar Pradesh will experience heatwave conditions. Delhi-NCR, Haryana and Rajasthan will experience maximum temperatures in the range of 38- 42C by newxt week, IMD said. Perhaps the typical heatwave is still far away due to regular western disturbances, said Mahesh Palavat of Skymet Weather, a private weather solution agency.

Of stiff upper lips and panic buttons

In many ways, Indian history writing is yet to come out of the Forties. Seen as the decade that delivered Independence, documentation of that time is usually in the nationalist mode. But there have been exceptions. Janam Mukherjees Hungry Bengal on the Bengal famine of 1942-1943 is a searing account of the tragedy that looks beyond shortage of food by linking Britains imperialist strategies with the ravaging of the Bengal countryside its pursuit of a scorched-earth policy in anticipation of a Japanese invasion and its indifference to human lives evident in the way it dealt with the dead bodies that piled up on Calcuttas streets. Mukund Padmanabhans The Great Flap of 1942 (Penguin India), which celebrated its publication recently in the city, is an interesting and briskly paced account with the same players. A veteran journalist and now a professor at KREA University, north of Chennai, Padmanabhan brings a keen eye to the tragic-comedy of a non-event a Japanese non-invasion that nevertheless made the British Raj panic. Writer and former ambassador Navtej Sarna, who was in conversation with Padmanabhan at the event, pointed out how you say 1942 and everyone says Quit India. The reason why the story of the flap that is how British bureaucrats described the panic and the mass exodus that followed all across India fell through the cracks is because it does not fit in the grand narrative of Indias independence or decolonisation, explained Padmanabhan. The book is rich in little-known details, especially how the Japanese threat played out in the minds of British India governors, Indians, and local administrators, and how that prompted the fright and flight with almost entire cities emptying out, disrupting lives and livelihoods. Pandmanabhans interest in the subject was piqued by the stories of his mother, who, like many others, fled Madras with her family in the last wave of the exodus to Coimbatore, returning to find their home ransacked, and her Intermediate degree unfit for a college she had applied to, which asked her to do the first year all over again. Arthur Hope, Governor of the Madras Presidency Coastal areas such as Madras were also spooked by what they saw as British incompetence in matters of defence in the light of the bombing of Vizag and Colombo, and bizarre experiments being carried out in Delhi. John Bicknell Auden, brother of the famous poet WH Auden, and an official with the Geological Survey of India, set up braziers around South Block and filled them with tarry substances to drive up clouds of smoke, said Padmanabhan, in order to obscure important buildings from Japanese air attacks. The Madras Governors Pongal day (January 14, 1942) message linking the fate of Singapore which was to fall to Japan a month laterto that of Madras, was also an example of confused messaging and, in fact, triggered panic, said the writer. The Madras Corporation even donated `10,000 for Singapore, so crucial its security was seen to be for the security of Madras. Though Japanese air raids would come a whole year later, the government of Madras, in a communiqu dated April 11, 1942, sounded the doomsday siren and advised residents other than those engaged in essential services to leave the city. Panic buttons were similarly pressed in Jamshedpur, Cuttack, Cochin with the colonial administration actively encouraging, or not discouraging, non-essentials, non-effectives or useless mouths from leaving. These included the dangerous animals in the Madras Zoo; a paramilitary force, which had crushed the Moplah rebellion of 1921, was drafted in to shoot them down. To these lost stories, Padmanabhans book also sheds light on divisions in the Congress about various attitudes to WWII in how to support the war (or not) in exchange for freedom from British rule. Padmanabhans book also asks the question whether the great flap, considering that it was brief, was painless. What was the extent of the impact of the Japanese threat on Indias freedom struggle in the year 1942? Were the shouts of Quit India stronger because of Japans entry into South Asia? Would Japan have aided Indian independence? While Padmanabhan says he does not have a firm position on the last, the book will satisfy every anti-colonial heart that will know about a time when the famous Brit stiff upper lip visibly quivered, and, instead of taking charge, the Raj did the easy thing: hit the panic button. Ram Navami celebrations resonate with fervour across the country as Ayodhya becomes the focal point

Ram Navami celebrations resonate with fervour across the country as Ayodhya becomes the focal point Ram Navami was celebrated on Wednesday across the country with joyous processions and special prayers, as Ayodhya's Ram temple witnessed grand festivities to mark the first Ram Navami after its consecration, a day described as a ''generational milestone'' by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Modi greeted people on the festival, which commemorates the birth of Lord Ram, saying the occasion weaves together centuries of devotion with a new era of hope and progress. Shobha yatras, pujas and special events were organised across the length and breadth of the country, but nowhere the celebrations were as grand as in Ayodhya, considered the birth place of Lord Ram, where devotees began queuing up outside the newly consecrated temple before the dawn and the holy city reverberated with the chants of Jai Shree Ram. The celebrations passed off peacefully everywhere, barring a blast, that injured a woman, and an incident of stone-pelting in West Bengal's Murshidabad. It was not immediately clear if it was a bomb blast or the explosion happened due to other reasons. In the Ayodhya Ram temple, a meticulously designed system of four mirrors and two lenses directed a ray of sunlight on the forehead of Ram Lalla in the sanctum sanctorum, performing the 'Surya Tilak' of the idol at 12.00 pm. ''After my Nalbari rally, I watched the Surya Tilak on Ram Lalla. Like crores of Indians, this is a very emotional moment for me. The grand Ram Navami in Ayodhya is historic. May this Surya Tilak bring energy to our lives and may it inspire our nation to scale new heights of glory,'' Modi said in a post on X following his Lok Sabha poll rally in Assam's Nalbari. ''This much-awaited moment at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi is a moment of bliss for everyone. This 'Surya tilak' will illuminate every resolution of developed India with its divine energy in the same way, he said. ''The first Ram Navami after the Pran Pratishtha in Ayodhya is a generational milestone, weaving together centuries of devotion with a new era of hope and progress. This is a day crores of Indians waited for,'' Modi said in a series of posts on X. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also shared a video of the 'Surya Tilak' on his official handle on X. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, said Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru, played a crucial role in the Surya Tilak project. ''The team led by @IIABengaluru carried out calculations of the Sun's position, designed and optimized the optical system, and performed the integration and alignment at the site,'' he said. With the first phase of polling for the Lok Sabha elections less than 48 hours away, security was tightened in parts on the country already, and the administration made elaborate arrangements for Ram Navami as some incidents of violence were reported on Ram Navami during previous years. The small Hindu community of the Srinagar city celebrated the festival by taking out a Shobha Yatra in the summer capital amidst tight security. The yatra started from the Zaindar Mohalla in the old city and culminated at Tankipora after passing through Habbakadal, Barbarshah, Lal Chowk, Hari Singh High Street and Jehangir Chowk. ''We have been taking out this yatra and 'jhanki' every year for the past 17 years. Earlier, it was stopped due to turmoil in the Valley,'' said one of the participants. In Jharkhand, the festival was celebrated across the state with long queues seen outside temples as the administration deployed police personnel and used drones to monitor religious gatherings. Officials said Ranchi, Hazaribag, Jamshedpur, Giridih, Lohardaga and Palamu districts were in focus. Meanwhile, a 17-year-old girl was killed and 24 people were injured after a pick-van carrying a generator set and soundbox overturned on a Ram Navami procession in the state's Lohardaga district. A large number of devotees participated procession in Bihar's capital Patna. In West Bengal, political leaders joined Ram Navami processions along with common participants. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee greeted the people of the state on the occasion and appealed to them to maintain peace. Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari attended a Ram Navami procession in the New Town area of the city while TMC minister Arup Roy and party's Howrah Lok Sabha constituency candidate Prasun Banerjee walked with processions in Howrah town. Despite the administration forbidding display of arms in public, people carried swords in processions in Howrah. The state-run Jadavpur University in Kolkata withdrew the permission it gave to RSS-affiliated ABVP to celebrate Ram Navami on the campus amid protests by Left-backed students' organisations. The varsity had given the permission to celebrate Ram Navami near Gate 3 from 11 am to 2 pm, they said. In the Rejinagar area of Murshidabad, the BJP alleged that stones were thrown at a Ram Navami procession. ''It was the duty of the state police to maintain law and order. We urge the Election Commission to take stern action against the police officers there,'' said BJP state general secretary Jagannath Chattopadhyay. In Telangana, the festival was celebrated with traditional fervour with the highlight being the 'Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam' (celestial wedding of Lord Ram and Sita) in the temple town of Bhadrachalam on the banks of Godavari river.

Champai Soren 'puppet CM', Kalpana Soren 'centre of power' in Jharkhand: LoP Amar Bauri Senior BJP leader Amar Kumar Bauri on Sunday alleged that Champai Soren was a ''caretaker and puppet chief minister'' while Kalpana Soren, the wife of former CM Hemant Soren, was the ''centre of power'' in Jharkhand. Addressing a press conference here, the leader of the opposition in the assembly sought to know in what capacity was Kalpana Soren chairing meetings despite not being in the government or the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). ''I would like to ask Champai Soren why is he so helpless despite being the CM? Why is JMM not giving him any importance even during the Lok Sabha polls. Kalpana Soren does not hold any post in the government or the JMM. Then, in what capacity is she chairing all meetings?'' Bauri questioned. Noting that Kalpana Soren's entry into politics was the best example of dynasty politics, Bauri alleged she has become the ''centre of power'' in Jharkhand. He also compared Kalpana Soren to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, ''who remained the centre of power during the Manmohan Singh government''. On the CM's assertion that the INDIA bloc will win all the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state, Bauri, who is also an MLA and the BJP's SC cell president, said Champai Soren was ''day-dreaming''. ''INDIA bloc is finding it difficult to put up a candidate in Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat but it is claiming that it will win all the 14 seats. The statement shows the CM's desperation to grab the limelight,'' he said. Being the CM, he should have been the start campaigner of the INDIA bloc but he is restricted to his home constituency Seraikela in Seraikela-Kharswan district, where he has been on a three-day visit since Saturday, Bauri added.

FC Goa beat Jamshedpur FC in 3-2 thriller to move up to third in ISL table

FC Goa beat Jamshedpur FC in 3-2 thriller to move up to third in ISL table Already assured of a play-offs spot, FC Goa defeated Jamshedpur FC in a 3-2 thriller to move up to third spot in the Indian Super League points table here on Tuesday. The Gaurs now have 42 points from 21 matches. They are level on points with Mohun Bagan Super Giant but have played one match more than the Kolkata side. The game kept tilting both ways until the Gaurs laid the final stamp through a winner by Borja Herrera in the added time of the second half. However, it was Jamshedpur FC who opened the floodgates courtesy of a goal by their Japanese star Rei Tachikawa, which was his fifth of the season. The Red Miners outnumbered the Gaurs near their goal after a corner, and Tachikawa was at the right place at the right time for his left-footed stunner, which bulged the net from the left side of the six-yard box in the 17th minute. However, that joy didn't last long for the home team as Noah Sadaoui carried on his incredible run of form from the previous game. The Moroccan attacker had notched a hat-trick against Hyderabad FC in the last game and he followed it up by scoring the Gaurs' first goal of this match in the 21st minute. They broke quickly on a counter, and central midfielder Carl McHugh laid the ball to Noah on the left flank. The attacker did the entire act from there, beating Jamshedpur FC goalkeeper Vishal Yadav on the near post. Sadaoui built on that momentum, delivering a lateral ball for Carlos Martinez that the Spaniard volleyed in to get the Gaurs the lead in the 28th minute. Jamshedpur FC didn't take a step back and kept knocking the door through attempts by Pratik Chaudhari, Javi Siverio, and Mohammed Sanan. They adopted a varied range of attacking options, and the equaliser by Seiminlen Doungel came through a conscious team effort where they worked the ball up and delivered it to the attacker on the left flank for him to slot it inside the net in the 73rd minute. It was some clinical finishing. For about 20-odd minutes, it appeared that FC Goa would end up settling for a draw, complicating their top-two chances, but Herrera came to the rescue merely minutes before the game came to an end. Both teams kept searching for the winner, leaving spaces behind in the backline that Gaurs exploited. Brison Fernandes's delivery for an onrushing Herrera near the box was met and converted by the midfielder with ultimate ease, thus scoring Goa's third goal and getting them three points from the game. FC Goa will play Chennaiyin FC on April 14, whereas Jamshedpur FC's season comes to an end with this match.

Dhanbad BJP nominee Dulu Mahto serves legal notice to Jamshedpur MLA Saryu Roy

Dhanbad BJP nominee Dulu Mahto serves legal notice to Jamshedpur MLA Saryu Roy Dhanbad BJP candidate Dulu Mahto on Monday served a legal notice to Jamshedpur (East) MLA Saryu Roy for alleging that there are 50 pending cases against him, Mahto's lawyer told reporters. Roy, on the other hand, has dared the three-time Baghmara MLA to file a defamation case against him. Mahtos lawyer Niraj Kumar Bishiar said Roy's claim that 50 criminal cases are pending against Mahto in different courts is ''factually wrong and baseless.'' ''If it is true, why doesnt he disclose the case numbers,'' he said. The notice asked Roy to either issue a public apology or retract from the claims made during the press conference. ''Failure to comply would result in Mahto pressing defamation charges against Roy in a competent court of law,'' his lawyer added. ''Mahto has served a legal notice which is of low standard and does not require reply. I dump such notices in the dustbin,'' Roy said. He asserted that the notice is nothing but a political move to divert attention of the public from his criminal cases.

ISL: FC Goa face tough Jamshedpur FC challenge in penultimate game of league campaign

ISL: FC Goa face tough Jamshedpur FC challenge in penultimate game of league campaign The Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 Shield may have become a distant dream for Manolo Marquez and his boys at FC Goa, but they are willing to give it their all and do their due diligence, with two games remaining in their league campaign. The first of these clashes, set to happen on Tuesday, will see the Gaurs take on a resolute Jamshedpur FC side at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, the latter's home turf in the Steel City of India. Having slipped to 10th spot on the points' table following three losses and a draw in their last four matches, Jamshedpur are out of the playoffs race. That said, they would look to end their season on a high and with some pride restored, when they face Goa in what is their last league game. Khalid Jamil and co. can be potential dark horses for Manolo's boys, who are not only chasing an elusive League Shield but also aiming to finish as high up in the standings as possible, as insurance if they miss out on the coveted piece of silverware. Currently in fourth, three more points will help them leapfrog Odisha FC to third and even Mohun Bagan Super Giant to second place, provided they win with a handful of goals, a release said. Any other result will virtually end their hopes of becoming champions and the Men in Orange will have to settle for just the playoff spot that they have already been assured of. At the pre-match press conference on Monday, FC Goa head coach Manolo Marquez addressed the importance of his team needing to play a good game against the Men of Steel. Under the new coach (Khalid Jamil), they (Jamshedpur FC) reacted very well in the second half of the season, he opined. I remember their win over Mumbai City FC. It will be a difficult game for both teams for sure, and we will have to play a good game. They usually play with four Indians in their defence line, which makes it seem easy for opponents, but it also means that the remaining six outfield players will be in midfield and attack and four of them will be foreigners. All games in the ISL are difficult. The other day, we played against the bottom team in the league (Hyderabad FC) and the score was still only 0-0 at half-time. We faced many problems in the first half as well, Marquez went on. We finished the first leg unbeaten and started the second leg with a win. The next six games were disappointing, with three draws and three losses. For me, the regular season is the most fair competition. But it is also a short one. In Spain for instance, we have 20 teams playing in a league. In India, the teams are fewer but it is increasing every year - last year it was 20 games in total and now it is 22... We have worked hard and will continue to do so, let us see if that will be enough to win the Shield. There are things that are not in our control as well, the tactician concluded. With 44 points from 20 matches, Mumbai City are currently the leaders of the pack, followed by Mohun Bagan on 42 points. With Odisha FC and FC Goa close behind with 39 points each, the race for the ISL championship remains wide open. The Gaurs' situation is such that they have to depend on other teams' results as well, apart from winning both their remaining two matches. And even if things do not go as per plan, finishing second would take them directly to the semi-finals alongside the champions, which, in turn, means a step closer to the ISL Cup - something that they are yet to lay their hands on. Marquez believes in his team's hard work, and Tuesday's game will shed further light on what fashion they will end their league campaign in. In addition to finishing as high up the points table as possible, the Goan outfit would want to win - also to set the right momentum ahead of their last match of the regular season against Chennaiyin FC and then the playoffs. ISL 2023-24: Gutsy Chennaiyin thrash Mohun Bagan Super Giant 3-2 in pulsating clash

ISL 2023-24: Gutsy Chennaiyin thrash Mohun Bagan Super Giant 3-2 in pulsating clash Chennaiyin FC put on a spectacular show to overcome Mohun Bagan Super Giant 3-2 in a nail-biting blockbuster Sunday clash of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Sunday. In a pulsating contest, filled with intense drama and excitement, Irfan Yadwad (90+7 minutes) struck the winner in the dying minutes for Chennaiyin with the keeper Vishal Kaith nowhere in the picture. Jordan Murray (72nd) and Ryan Edwards (80th) were the other two goal scorers for the Marina Machans as they also ended Mohun Bagan Super Giant's eight-match unbeaten streak with this win. Joni Kauko (29th minute) and Dimitri Petratos (90+4) scored for the hosts. The match had an intense start with both teams pressing hard to retain possession, trying to take the lead. Chennaiyin striker Murray came close to scoring the opening goal in the 16th minute when he attempted a header off Rafael Crivellaro's freekick but narrowly missed the target. Three minutes later, Debjit Majumder saved a powerful close-range shot from Liston Colaco but Mohun Bagan Super Giant managed to put themselves ahead with Kauko finding the net. Chennaiyin regrouped and began the second half positively. They grew in confidence as the game progressed and kept creating chances. In-form Murray showed his brilliance on the field to draw level for the Marina Machans. The 28-year-old Australian striker received the ball outside the box and fired a shot into the bottom left corner. After the equaliser, Chennaiyin went all out and soon found themselves in the driver's seat with a 2-1 lead against the team who have scored the most number of goals in the season. This time skipper Edwards led from the front as he converted Crivellaro's cross off a corner with a stunning header, leaving no room for the keeper. The hosts managed to level the scores courtesy of a spot kick which was converted successfully by Petratos. However, Chennayin refused to give up and tried their best in the dying minutes and managed to find a perfect finish when Ayush Adhikari found Yadwad who slotted the ball into an empty goal. Mohun Bagan Super Giant tried their best once again to find an equaliser but Majumder stood tall to ensure three points for his side with a sensational win. Chennaiyin will next return home to host Jamshedpur FC on Thursday while Mohun Bagan Super Giant are scheduled to face Punjab FC in an away match on Saturday. (ANI)

Lok Sabha polls: Santhal Parganas, North Chotanagpur hold key in Jharkhand

Lok Sabha polls: Santhal Parganas, North Chotanagpur hold key in Jharkhand Santhal Parganas and North Chotanagpur regions, which hold a total of eight of the 14 seats in Jharkhand, are significant in the Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand. Kolhan region in the southern part of the state, which has the prestigious Jamshedpur seat, besides Singhbhum, is also important in the political landscape of the state. Lok Sabha polls will be held in the state in four phases on May 13, 20, 25 and June 1. In the 2019 general elections, the BJP emerged victorious in 11 seats, while its ally AJSU secured one seat. Both the JMM and Congress have one seat each. For the upcoming polls, while the BJP has announced candidates for 11 of the 14 seats, the INDIA bloc is yet to announce its nominees as talks continue among allies, including the JMM and Congress, over seat sharing. In Santhal Parganas, the saffron party had won Dumka (ST) and Godda seats and lost Rajmahal (ST) to JMM in 2019. This time, the BJP will not only try to retain the two parliamentary seats it had won in 2019 but also make all-out efforts to wrest the one it lost. The JMM and the Congress will also leave no stone unturned to retain their hold in the region. Rajmahal, considered a JMM bastion, is one of the seats eyed by the party although seat sharing among allies has not yet been finalised. Vijay Kumar Hansdak of the JMM had won the Rajmahal constituency in 2019, defeating Hemlal Murmu of the BJP. This time, the BJP has fielded its former Jharkhand state president Tala Marandi from Rajmahal. Marandi, who had won the Borio assembly seat on a BJP ticket in 2014, had joined the AJSU party in 2019 after being denied a BJP ticket. However, he returned to the BJP in 2022. In Dumka, the BJP has fielded sitting MP Sunil Soren. He had defeated JMM president Shibu Soren in the 2019 polls by a margin of 47,590 votes. Sitting MP Nishikant Dubey will seek re-election from Godda. Dubey had defeated JVM-P's Pradeep Yadav by 1,84,227 votes. The polls in these three constituencies will be held on June 1. A total of 16.82 lakh voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in Rajmahal, while 15.70 lakh people can vote in Dumka and 19.95 lakh in Godda. Both the ruling JMM-Congress-RJD alliance in the state and the BJP have been aggressively campaigning in the region in a bid to consolidate their position. North Chotanagpur has a total of five seats, the largest by numbers for any region in the state. Key among those is the high-profile urban constituency Hazaribag, which was once represented by former Union finance minister Yashwant Sinha and later his son, former Union minister Jayant Sinha. This time, however, the BJP has replaced Jayant Sinha, a two-time MP and sitting parliamentarian, with local MLA Manish Jaiswal. Hours before the announcement of his benching, Sinha had requested the party leadership to relieve him from electoral politics via X. Sinha had in 2019 won the seat by a margin of 4.79 lakh votes, defeating Congress' Gopal Sahu. The constituency has a total of 19.18 lakh voters, including 9.31 lakh women. BJP's Hazaribag MLA Manish Jaiswal had defeated Congress' Dr Ramchandra Prasad in the 2019 assembly polls. Key assembly segments include Barhi (Congress), Barkagaon (Congress), Ramgarh (AJSU), Mandu (BJP), and Hazaribag (BJP). Union minister Annapurna Devi, contesting on a JVM-P ticket in 2019 from Koderma, will fight from the same seat. She had defeated state BJP president and former chief minister Babulal Marandi by a margin of 4,55,600 votes. The Hazaribag, Chatra and Koderma seats will vote on May 20 while polling will be held in Giridih and Dhanbad on May 25. Singhbhum (ST) and Jamshedpur seats in Kolhan region are also significant which both the camps will try to secure. Geeta Koda, the wife of former chief minister Madhu Koda who was Jharkhand's lone Congress MP before recently joining the BJP, has been fielded from the seat by the saffron party. She had bagged it in 2019 by defeating BJP's Laxman Gilua. JMM may field state transport minister Dipak Birua in the seat. In Jamshedpur, the BJP has repeated sitting MP Bidyut Baran Mahto. Mahto had defeated Chief Minister Champai Soren in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls by a margin of 3,02,090 votes. While the opposition INDIA bloc's final decision is pending, it is likely that the JMM will field its candidate for the prestigious Jamshedpur constituency and may even contest the Singhbhum constituency, party sources said. Singhbhum, which has a total number of 14.32 lakh voters, will go to polls on May 13, while voting will be held in Jamshedpur, which has 18.41 lakh voters, on May 25. In the South Chotanagpur region, the battle for Khunti is poised to be interesting as the BJP has fielded Union minister Arjun Munda, who had won the seat in 2019 by a narrow margin of just 1,445 votes. The constituency has various issues such as human trafficking, illegal opium cultivation, and unemployment. It has 13.12 lakh voters, including 6.67 lakh women. For the Lohardaga seat, the BJP has reposed faith in its Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand, Samir Oraon, whose term is ending on May 3. He will be contesting the Lohardaga (ST) seat, replacing existing MP Sudarshan Bhagat, whose victory margin in the previous polls was a mere 10,363. Oraon was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2018. For the Ranchi seat, the party has fielded sitting MP Sanjay Seth who had defeated Congress' Subodh Kant Sahay by a margin of 2,82,780 votes. Union minister Arjun Munda has been chosen again from the Khunti (ST) seat which he had won by a narrow margin of 1,445 votes in 2019, defeating Congress' Kalicharan Munda. Khunti and Lohardaga will go to polls on May 13 while polling in Ranchi will be held on May 25. Incumbent MP of the BJP, former DGP Vishnu Dayal Ram, will contest the Palamu (SC) seat this time as well. He had won the seat by a margin of 4,77,606 votes in the previous polls. Voting in Palamu, which has a total number of 22.27 lakh voters, will be held on May 13.

Ranchi Diary | JMM seeks time from President over Sarna Code

JMM seeks time from Prez over Sarna Code The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has requested a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu to address several pressing issues ahead of the general election. In a letter dated March 4 to the Presidents Secretary, the JMM outlined their concerns, including the Sarna Code, SC/ST and OBC reservation, and the 1932 local policy of Jharkhand. Although the Hemant Soren government had pursued these issues, they encountered obstacles preventing their implementation. The government advocated for the inclusion of the Sarna code in the religious section of the census form, alongside provisions for followers of six major religions. CPI decides to go solo in Jharkhand LS poll The INDIA Alliance faces another setback as the CPI announces its intention to field candidates in eight Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand. Expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of discussions on seat allocation, the CPI opted to contest independently, focusing on eight out of the states 14 seats. Despite lacking current representation in Jharkhands Parliament, the CPIs decision to withdraw from the INDI alliance is perceived as a significant blow to the opposition. The party plans to nominate candidates in key constituencies including Dumka, Giridih, Palamu and Jamshedpur. Govt to teach in tribal, regional languages In a landmark decision, the government of Jharkhand has initiated plans to introduce teaching in tribal and regional languages for primary-level students in government schools across tribal-dominated districts. Chief Minister Champai Soren convened a high-level meeting to discuss the implementation of this policy, aimed at enhancing comprehension among students. Presently, only Odia and Bengali are taught in select schools, primarily in the Kolhan region. However, with this initiative, languages such as Santhali, Kudukh, Khadiya, Khortha, Nagpuri, and Mundari will be incorporated into the curriculum. CPI parts ways with INDIA bloc in Jharkhand, to go solo in Lok Sabha polls

RANCHI: The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Sunday parted ways with the opposition bloc INDIA, announcing that it will contest in eight of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the upcoming elections. The CPI has no representation in the Lower House of Parliament from Jharkhand. We have decided to contest the Lok Sabha polls on our own, CPI state secretary Mahendra Pathak told PTI. The BJP has announced its candidates, but the Congress and the 'Mahagathbandhan' have not yet held any talks on seat-sharing. So, we have decided to go solo, he said. The decision was taken at the party's state executive committee meeting here, he said. The CPI will field its candidates in Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Koderma, Chatra, Palamu, Giridih, Dumka and Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituencies. Names of the candidates will be announced after March 16, Pathak said. Meanwhile, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), which leads the ruling coalition in Jharkhand, said such a decision by the CPI state unit raises questions over discipline within the party. It is beyond my understanding if the state unit can take such decisions. Discussions on seat-sharing are already underway at the national level, JMM spokesperson Manoj Pandey said. Of the 14 seats in the state, the BJP has 11, AJSU party one, JMM one and the Congress has one. However, the Congress' lone MP Geeta Kora recently shifted to the BJP.

Mohun Bagan look to extend derby dominance over East Bengal

Mohun Bagan look to extend derby dominance over East Bengal A resurgent Mohun Bagan Super Giant under coach Antonio Lopez Habas will look to keep their derby record intact and climb to the top of the Indian Super League table when they take on arch-rivals East Bengal in the return leg fixture here on Sunday. The former champions pressed the restart button after reuniting with their most successful coach Habas to be unbeaten in six matches since the first-leg derby that saw a 2-2 stalemate. Four out of their 10 wins from 16 matches have come in the last six games under the Spanish tactician who is the most successful coach in the Indian top tier with two titles both with the previous entity ATK. Mohun Bagan require just one more point to qualify for the playoffs and need to win all all their remaining matches to claim the League Shield title. They can also win the Shield if they draw against Mumbai City FC and win their remaining matches. Mohun Bagan also hold the bragging rights in the ISL derby as they are yet to lose against their arch-rivals in seven exchanges. The Mariners have won six of these games and drawn once until now. Another win on the day will see them equal the tally of current leaders Mumbai City FC, who have played two extra matches than the Kolkata giants. Habas, however, advised the team to be cautious about becoming overconfident. ''Overconfidence sometimes kills, we have to guard against it,'' Habas said on the eve of the derby at the Salt Lake Stadium. ''Derby is a different game. For me, the best moment is to win tomorrow. We are looking for only three points. For fans, it's a big game but for us, it has to be professional.'' The coach credited the players' commitment for their turnaround in the second half of the tournament. ''I am very happy with the performance of all the players in the team. One thing important for me is that they are committed,'' Habas said. Dimitri Petratos, who had bagged the equaliser in the previous Kolkata derby, will once again be the key figure in Mohun Bagan's attacks. ''Look I am enjoying my football. Trying my best to do what my team needs and coach needs,'' said the Australian who has created 18 goal-scoring opportunities since the start of 2024,'' Petratos said. Petratos has netted seven times and assisted once in 14 appearances in this campaign. He has taken 36 shots with 50 per cent of them landing on target. The scenario is different for the Carles Cuadrat-coached East Bengal who have slipped to No 10 on the table after losing thrice in their last five matches. The Red and Golds not only have to win their remaining four games but they need three teams -- NorthEast United FC, Chennaiyin FC, and Jamshedpur FC -- to drop points to ensure their playoff chances. ''We have 12 points to play. They have been playing after long time. But still, we have to give our best tomorrow,'' the East Bengal coach said. ''I think Mohun Bagan at the moment are favourites but I think my players are ready to give their best,'' he said. Match starts 8.30pm IST.

Mumbai City FC's Vikram Partap named Emerging Player of the Month for February

Mumbai City FC's Vikram Partap named Emerging Player of the Month for February Mumbai City FC forward Vikram Partap Singh has been named the Emerging Player of the Month for February 2024, following a series of impressive performances last month that propelled his team back into contention for the Indian Super League (ISL) League Shield. The Islanders played five matches in February, and after a shocking defeat to Jamshedpur FC in the opening game, they regained momentum, remaining unbeaten in the remaining four matches. They secured three consecutive victories against East Bengal FC, Bengaluru FC, and Chennaiyin FC, and concluded with a draw against FC Goa. Singh featured in all five matches, starting each game and accumulating 351 minutes on the field during the past month. The 22-year-old showcased excellence, finding the back of the net three times, with two goals against Bengaluru FC and one against FC Goa. He achieved a goal every 117 minutes with an expected goal (xG) rate of 1.13. Singh's maturity and responsibility undoubtedly contributed to the team and this is one thing that will help his side in the upcoming matches as well. He made 21 touches in the opposition box, won 20 duels, gained possession of the ball 14 times, and maintained a passing accuracy of 70.1 per cent. Out of 11 players shortlisted for the prize, Singh emerged as the outright winner this month, being the first choice for all nine experts who cast their votes. The second and third choices were Jamshedpur FC's Mohammed Sanan K and Hyderabad FC's Ramhlunchhunga, respectively. Singh becomes the fourth recipient of this season's award, following FC Goa's Jay Gupta (October), Kerala Blasters FC's Vibin Mohanan (November), and Odisha FC's Isak Vanlalruatfela (December). ISL: Odisha FC look to maintain top spot as they take on Chennaiyin

ISL: Odisha FC look to maintain top spot as they take on Chennaiyin Chennaiyin FC hosts table toppers Odisha FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the Indian Super League (ISL) on Sunday. It is a clash of contrasting forms, between a team that has not been defeated in the competition since October and a side that has lost four out of its last five matches. The Juggernauts are on the move constantly, facing tough tussles from Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Mumbai City FC who are sniffing down their necks. With 35 points from 17 games, Odisha FC is just two ahead of the Mariners (33), who have played a match fewer (16). The Islanders are not far off either (32 points from 16), and Odisha FC needs to sideline whatever competition it faces to ensure the team does not have to play catch-up later on in the campaign. The Marina Machans were well placed to contest for the playoff positions at the mid-season break. However, with 15 points from 16 games, things don't seem all rosy for them at the moment. They are five behind the sixth-placed Jamshedpur FC (20), who have played two additional matches (18). Whilst the distance is within bridging limits, it needs an urgent turnaround of form at all costs. Chennaiyin FC had their three-match-long unbeaten streak at home broken by Mumbai City FC last week. The last time they lost consecutive games were defeats to FC Goa (0-2) and Mumbai City FC (2-6) from October to November 2022, which is a run that the team will be cautious of avoiding in the forthcoming fixture. It has certainly not been a desirable season for the Marina Machans though. Their 15 points from 16 matches is the second least tally they have accumulated at this stage of any ISL season, only after the eight they had garnered in 2018-19. In fact, the nine losses that they have suffered are also the second-highest after 16 matches in any campaign, after the 12 they had faced at this phase in 2018-19. Odisha FC has not tasted defeat in any of its last four fixtures against Chennaiyin FC, having won and drawn twice each in the time being. If they take at least a point on Sunday, then it will equal their second-longest such run against any team in the competition (NorthEast United FC - 5). They are well-placed to do so though, remaining unbeaten in their last 13 ISL fixtures, winning a whopping nine times amongst those games. In fact, this unbeaten streak is over three times than their second-best record of four games in this regard. We know we are at our best when we play at home. It's unfortunate that we lost here to Mumbai City FC, but we had some good aspects of our game play, which we need to look at, Chennaiyin FC Head Coach Owen Coyle quipped ahead of the match as quoted by ISL. Every game is very important for us. We got a big win in the last match. We got three very important points. Chennaiyin FC is a difficult team to beat, it's not easy to beat them, we have to compete against everything and prepare for the game accordingly, Odisha FC Head Coach Sergio Lobera said in the pre-match press conference.
