Parliament Winter Session: Finance Minister Sitharaman moves two bills for new cess on tobacco and other 'sin goods'

New bills have been introduced to change taxes on tobacco and pan masala. The Central Excise Amendment Bill will levy excise duty on tobacco products. The Health Security se National Security Cess Bill, 2025, will apply to pan masala and other notified goods. Revenue from tobacco excise will be shared with states.
