Centre announces plans to conduct Census 2027 in two phases

India will conduct its next Census in 2027. This will be the first Census in over 70 years to include caste enumeration. The process will be digital, using mobile apps for data collection. The Census will happen in two phases, starting with house listing in 2026 and population enumeration in early 2027.
