Canada joins EU defense fund as the country pivots away from the US

Canada has joined a major European Union defense fund. This move allows Canadian defense companies access to a significant EU loan program. The initiative aims to fill capability gaps and expand markets for Canadian suppliers. Prime Minister Mark Carney stated the plan will also attract European defense investment into Canada. Canada is the first non-EU country to gain this access.
