Between 2005 and 2019, Chinese enrolment rose from 62,000 to over 317,000, supporting American masters students and local job markets. Revenue from Chinese students helped expand programmes and maintain affordable tuition. Researchers from UC San Diego and Stanford found that these students spending positively impacted college towns, highlighting their role in both education and regional economic growth.
