Rare Blue Moon to light up skies this May: When and where can you watch it

Blue Moon 2026 date: A rare Blue Moon will appear on May 31, 2026, marking the second full Moon of the same calendar month. The event occurs because the Moons 29.5-day lunar cycle does not perfectly align with the calendar year, leading to an extra full Moon in some years. According to BBC, the rare phenomenon also means 2026 will have 13 full Moons instead of the usual 12.
