Protests erupt in Nashik as trees are marked for cutting for Kumbh project

Plans to cut over 1,000 trees in Nashik for a 'Sadhu Gram' ahead of the 2026-2028 Simhastha Kumbh Mela face widespread opposition. Actor Sayaji Shinde and MNS chief Raj Thackeray have criticized the move, with Thackeray alleging the land will be given to developers. Both suggest using compensatory afforestation land for the Sadhu Gram instead.
