The film marks the big-screen continuation of one of Indias most popular cult franchises and has also left audiences with a glimpse of what could lie ahead in the story. While the end-credit scene in the theatrical release has already teased a sequel, there is reportedly another sequence that was shot for the film but deliberately held back for Mirzapur: The Movie Part 2. According to an independent industry source, There was another end-credit scene that was shot for Mirzapur: The Movie but the makers consciously decided to hold it back for Part 2. The scene initially was to feature at the end of the film and set up what comes next, but the team felt its narrative significance would have a much bigger impact when the story continues. The decision to reserve the sequence was reportedly part of the makers larger storytelling plan and was not influenced by the films box office performance. The source further explained that the sequel was always part of the plan, irrespective of how the first instalment performed theatrically. For now, audiences have only seen the version of the film that was released in cinemas, while the additional sequence is expected to become part of the story in the next chapter. The scene that was held back is now expected to feature as part of the next chapter of the film,' the source adds. The film features an ensemble cast including Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Mohitt Maalik, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, Pramod Pathak, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, Shweta Tripathi and Sonal S Chauhan. Directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna, Mirzapur: The Movie is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment. Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani serve as co-producers. The film released in cinemas on September 4, 2026, in Hindi and Telugu. The devotional track, which features Tamannaah at the centre, brings the festival into the narrative of the film while offering a glimpse into its folklore-driven world. Ahead of shooting for the song, Tamannaah said she took time to understand the traditions associated with Chhath and its significance in Bihar and Patna. The actor explained that the preparation went beyond simply performing for the sequence, as she wanted to understand the ritual and its cultural context. I have always held a deep reverence for Chhath Puja. Before we started shooting for the song, I spent time studying and understanding the significance of the ritual and how it is performed in Bihar and Patna. Honestly, I was stunned to learn the power it holds. The strong connection I felt with Chhathi Maiyya is something I cannot put in words. I found myself feeling deeply connected to her. Chhath Puja is one of the most important factors of The Vvaan, and I wouldn't have wanted to experience the ritual in any other way, she said. Chhathi Maiya forms part of the larger folklore and fantasy setting of The Vvaan. The song is presented under the Zee Music label and features music and vocals by Vishal Mishra, with lyrics penned by Kaushal Kishore. The choreography has been handled by Chinni Prakash. The film brings together TVF founder Arunabh Kumar, director Deepak Mishra and producer Ektaa R Kapoor for a story rooted in Indian folklore while incorporating elements of adventure, mystery, humour and romance. The project is also expanding its fictional universe through The Legend of Vvaan comic book, which introduces audiences to the folklore surrounding the story. Presented by Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, in association with TVF and 11.11 Production, The Vvaan stars Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia. The film has been written by Arunabh Kumar and directed by Deepak Mishra, with Manu Anand serving as DOP and Visual Director. The film is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Arunabh Kumar and Niraj Kothari. The Vvaan is scheduled to release in cinemas on September 25, 2026. With Chhathi Maiya introducing an important cultural element into the film, the song also provides a glimpse into how the makers have incorporated Chhath and its traditions into the larger fantasy folklore narrative. On Clean Air Day, the actress opened up about a deeply personal experience involving her son, recalling a period when pollution aggravated his respiratory problems and left the family rushing him to the hospital. Speaking about her sons health journey, Dia recalled that he was born extremely premature and required extensive medical care. She said, He was born extremely premature which means his airwaves (air passages) were narrow at birth, and it takes them much longer to get stronger. Therefore, they are (premature babies) a lot more susceptible to getting unwell and their frequency of getting ill is higher than a child who has had a full term. I remember that he coughed non-stop for six hours and no matter what we did, it just wouldnt stop. It was excruciating and unbearable. We are parents who have seen him through some pretty terrifying experiences right from his birth, including his birth. He was born in the sixth month, he was 820 gms, he was in the NICU for over two months, he went through life-saving surgery twice. While the family believed those difficult experiences were behind them, Dia said they were confronted with another frightening situation when her son was almost two years old. Recalling the incident, she said, We have been through all of that, and we had thought it was all behind us until the pollution got to him. He was almost 2 years old, and we had to rush him to the hospital, and we discovered that he was unable to breathe. Coughing was his bodys way of trying to cope Dia also recalled an incident during her sons sports day, which took place when pollution levels were high. She said her son wore a mask but felt uncomfortable and consequently kept his distance from his friends and teachers. He wore his mask and he got to the playground... he watched his friends from a distance; he refused to go and meet them and his teachers because he was wearing a mask. He felt uncomfortable about it, and this was not a small thing, she added. Addressing the wider impact of air pollution, Dia highlighted how exposure is particularly severe for communities and workers who spend significant amounts of time outdoors. She went on to share, In 2021, air pollution was linked to 2.1 million deaths in India, globally more than 700,000 children under the age of five died from causes linked to air pollution. But this burden is not shared equally. Communities living beside highways, landfills, construction sites, factories, and power plants face greater exposure; so do street vendors, traffic police, sanitation workers and construction workers, people who work outdoors and cannot retreat indoors when the air becomes dangerous. They are on the frontlines of polluted air. Emphasising the need for cleaner air to be accessible to everyone, the actress stated, Clean air should never be a privilege, while acknowledging that her own position allows her family certain protections. She went on to add, We come from a place of privilege. We are able to protect our children at some level. But there are so many children in our country and in the world who are in street situation and are exposed to all of this all the time with no protection. While the Hindi edition continues to be hosted by Salman Khan, the regional versions feature Vijay Sethupathi, Mohanlal, Nagarjuna, Kichcha Sudeepa and Sourav Ganguly as hosts for the Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Bangla editions, respectively. According to an independent industry source, the scale of the latest season extends well beyond what viewers see on screen. The source said, With Endemol Shine India putting Bigg Boss 20 on air in six different languages, it was a grand, never-before-seen launch. But remarkably, the show has a massive workforce behind it that works tirelessly to bring this spectacle to the screen. More than 630 people are working behind the camera across different languages, from editors and on-ground staff to talent management teams and technicians. The multilingual expansion requires coordination across multiple production teams, with each language edition involving its own set of creative, technical and operational requirements. The source further highlighted the distinctive production design associated with the franchise and the challenge of managing its various teams. Bigg Boss functions as a powerhouse in itself, with every set featuring a different style and theme. Managing such a massive workforce across multiple languages is no easy feat, but Endemol Shine India has ensured that audiences can enjoy Bigg Boss across different languages, all at the same time, the source added. The Hindi version of Bigg Boss 20 continues to be fronted by Salman Khan, who has been associated with the franchise for several seasons. Meanwhile, the regional editions bring established names from the respective entertainment industries to the format. Vijay Sethupathi leads Bigg Boss Tamil, while Malayalam superstar Mohanlal hosts Bigg Boss Malayalam. Nagarjuna returns as the host of Bigg Boss Telugu, Kichcha Sudeepa leads Bigg Boss Kannada and former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly hosts the Bangla edition. The simultaneous presence of the franchise across six languages places a considerable operational responsibility on the production teams working behind the scenes. From technical execution and editing to talent management and on-ground coordination, the workforce supports the daily functioning of the reality show across its different editions. The boxer spoke about the struggles behind her achievements during a conversation on Bigg Boss 20, making it clear that her accomplishments have been built through years of hard work, discipline and sacrifice. Mary pointed out that several people claim they were responsible for making her successful, despite not having experienced the challenges she faced as an athlete. She highlighted the physical and mental demands of boxing, including injuries and rigorous training, while questioning the claims of those who were not part of those struggles. A lot of people feel they made Mary, but they were never the ones who entered the ring, took the injuries, or went through the training. To claim credit for someone elses struggle is shameless. The boxing champion further credited her achievements to her own efforts and the sacrifices she made throughout her career. Whatever I have achieved has come from my hard work, dedication and the sacrifices I have made along the way, she added. During the conversation, Rohed also spoke about how silence is often misunderstood in todays world. He pointed out that people can mistake someones decision to remain quiet for weakness or assume that they have control over them. However, silence can also come from patience and inner strength. Mary Kom, popularly known as Magnificent Mary, is among the most accomplished names in amateur boxing. She is the only woman to have won the World Amateur Boxing Championship six times. She is also the only female boxer to have won a medal in each of the first seven World Championships and the only boxer, male or female, to win eight World Championship medals. Meanwhile, Bigg Boss 20 premiered on September 6 on Colors TV and JioHotstar. The latest season features 16 celebrity contestants, including MC Mary Kom, Kanika Mann, Mahhi Vij, Kushal Tanwar, Aman Gandhi, Isha Rikhi, Arishfa Khan, Qazi Touqeer, Asif Khan, Aamrapali Dubey, Rhiti Tiwari, Uditi Singh, Tanmay Singh aka ScoutOP, Rohed Khan, Yung DSA and Love Gill. Based on the Dutch reality format Big Brother, Bigg Boss continues to bring together contestants from different backgrounds under one roof, with their interactions and conversations forming the core of the show. In an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol, the actor spoke about the influence of star families when he entered the film industry in 2007 and how the rise of OTT platforms gradually created more space for outsiders. Reflecting on the period when he made his debut with Dhokha, Ibrahim said the industry had a limited number of films and that young actors without connections often found themselves competing with several star kids. He did not shy away from describing the situation as one dominated by Nepo kids. Unfortunately, film industry was too dense with, I don't shy away from using the word Nepo kids, because I did my debut in the midst of these Nepo babies doing their debut. Like Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Imran Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Varun Dhawan, and the list goes on, he said. According to Ibrahim, the issue was not necessarily a lack of talent among outsiders but the relationships producers already had within the industry. He explained that the limited number of films being made at the time made every opportunity important for young actors. People don't realise that industry's got a very limited pool, and any producer who's doing a film, he's got so many options to do these stories, because younger stories were very less to be made, and anybody of us could have done that film, he said. He further recalled how producers would often favour actors they already knew, leaving outsiders at a disadvantage. The producer would go with only that name, which he had a relationship with, and so there the preference was not talent, but it was always relationship, like who knew the producer better. So obviously they always had the upper hand. So you definitely feel left out, he added. Ibrahim, who later found recognition as Agent Avinash in the Special OPS franchise, credited OTT with creating new opportunities for actors who had struggled to find similar visibility in films. When OTT came, and unfortunately like people were so tired of watching these films with the same people, and so many of these names that I have taken, are not doing work, they don't find any space right now, because people were tired and sick of them, doing the same kind of work, acting the same way, he said. He said streaming platforms allowed actors to showcase a wider range of performances, pointing to his own work in Special OPS as an example. Now the OTT has given me the option where I can play a role like agent Avinash in Special Ops, and people get to see that, oh you know, this guy stands out. The response has been shared across everyone, like everybody, including Neeraj Pandey told me this, he said. Ibrahim also highlighted Jaideep Ahlawat and several other performers who gained greater visibility through OTT. It has given, not to me, but to other actors, like Jaideep Ahlawat, and all of them, they're doing OTT, and then helming very good films also, so you know, I think it has opened doors for a lot many actors, Ibrahim said. He believes the success of OTT performers has also influenced producers, who are increasingly willing to consider talent beyond established film families. It's done, tremendously well for a lot of actors because, and for audience also, audience is getting to see, what actors should be like, and they're holding accountable to all of these producers, who only did work with star kids. So even they are a little scared, and you can see that, because of the producers, have changed their gears, and taking up talent from OTT and TV, he pointed out. Ibrahim also addressed the perception that OTT success cannot be measured in the same way as theatrical films. Citing Special OPS 2, he said streaming platforms have their own numbers and rankings. Even for OTT platform it's not like you don't see the numbers and people cannot or anybody inside doesn't know like which OTT platform is doing better or not or which series is doing better or not. He added, So definitely we have numbers for Special Ops 2, Special ops 2 to 1.5 and of other series also and we know the numbers are much bigger than probably the biggest of the films in India and that's why you know they made into seasons. Numbers are definitely more visible in theatrical but they're not invisible in OTT. I think this is a misconception, he said. The actor also argued that the Hindi film industry needs to reconsider how it allocates budgets, particularly when it comes to star remuneration. The filmmakers have really gotten smarter with where they should spend. I think where the industry still overspends is like, succumbing to attaching too much to star power and only thinking that only stars will be able to deliver big hits, he said. Ibrahim cited Uri: The Surgical Strike as an example of a film that demonstrated the potential of strong content and execution. He pointed out that Vicky Kaushal was comparatively less established before the film and that director Aditya Dhar was also making his debut. A very fine example of this was Uri, where the action was mounted in such a big scale and relatively a lesser known actor or a star like Vicky Kaushal was helming it. I think anybody could have helmed that same role and could have delivered the same result because the content and the way it was done, it was so amazing. I remember Vicky was relatively very unknown before Uri. I think it was Aditya Dhar's debut too. But the team, the production, they made sure that they do it the right way. And because it was done with the right way, the way probably it would have been done with the star had there been a star in it, but they went all out in it and delivered, he explained. On whether audiences come to theatres for stars or stories, Ibrahim said both factors matter, but ultimately content plays an important role in sustaining audience interest. I think the audience comes to the theatre both for the content and for the star but in both the scenarios if the content is good then definitely the public is going to turn up in theatre and for the star also, he said. If the star who is appearing in the film doesn't have good content then the footfall will start decreasing and people will stop coming to the theatre, he said. And also if these stars keep on delivering bad films eventually people will be put off and wont go to theatres any more or will watch their films at home. I know so many actors whose films people have sworn never to watch, Ibrahim added. While Ibrahim has remained active through OTT, he is now looking forward to his next major theatrical project. Speaking about the opportunity, he said the experience could open new doors for him. I think a lot of people, it changed the demeanor - lot of change in the demeanor. As it goes around new opportunities are going to happen and lot of doors that are going to open. I am really excited to be a part of the biggest films on Indian screens with such actions. It is also a very important film for Salman sir, so excited to be a part of it. Let's see what happens and people who already know about it are creating a buzz, he said. While Kemmu leads the project and has also written and directed it, the film features Preity G Zinta, Sparsh Shrivastava and debutant Vanshika Dhir in key roles. Interestingly, Dhirs casting came about through an audition that was originally meant for another project. Kunal Kemmu recently opened up about the casting process and revealed that Vanshika Dhir had not initially auditioned for his film. He noticed her while she was auditioning for another project and was looking for an actor who could naturally deliver Hindi with a particular accent. According to Kemmu, what stood out was Dhirs ability to switch between accented and unaccented Hindi convincingly. Revealing how the casting came together, Kunal said, Vanshika hadn't auditioned for my film but when Mukesh (Chhabra) who is doing the audition process was playing some others, I think she had auditioned for another film and I was looking for an actor who naturally had a bit of an accent but could speak Hindi also, some were putting an accent and couldn't speak Hindi without an accent but when I saw her mujhe laga ye sirf Hindi karti hai (that she does only Hindi) so I asked her about and asked Mukesh to audition her for my film so that really worked. When I met her, I remember she spoke shudh Hindi and then spoke Hindi without an accent, mujhe laga ye gadbad ho gayi (I thought this was messed up), so then I asked her and she put on that accent very well. Thats how it started and when we rehearsed, she really fit my character well. The casting process eventually led to Dhir joining the film alongside Kemmu, Preity G Zinta and Sparsh Shrivastava. For the filmmaker, her ability to adapt her speech and fit naturally into the character became an important factor in finalising her casting. Her role also marks a significant opportunity as she makes her acting debut with the project. The newly released trailer offers a glimpse into the action-comedys world, which combines intense situations with comic moments. The project is written and directed by Kunal Kemmu and produced by Kemmu and Chirag Nihalani under the banner of Drongo Films. The film marks another directorial outing for Kemmu following his earlier work behind the camera. The action-comedy is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on September 18. With the trailer now giving audiences a closer look at the characters and the chaotic situations they encounter, the casting story behind Dhir adds another interesting detail to the project ahead of its theatrical release. South Korea's Vice Defence Minister Lee Doo-hee shared the view with his Japanese counterpart, Atsushi Ando, during their talks on the margins of the Seoul Defence Dialogue, Seoul's defence ministry said in a release. Both sides agreed that bilateral and trilateral cooperation between South Korea, Japan and the US is crucial for maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, and across the region, the ministry said, Yonhap News Agency reported. The two sides agreed to maintain communication and ongoing efforts to foster stable, mutually beneficial and forward-looking defence exchanges based on mutual understanding and trust, it added. Ando was attending the forum in place of Japanese Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi, who skipped the event after his visit to a controversial wartime shrine in Tokyo, seen as a symbol of Japan's imperialistic past, drew criticism from Seoul and other neighbouring countries. In a separate meeting with Janne Kuusela, Finland's permanent secretary of defence, Lee shared South Korea's assessment of the shifting global security landscape and discussed ways to enhance bilateral defence cooperation amid the growing security links between Europe and the Indo-Pacific, the ministry said. The two sides also agreed to expand cooperation in defence, science and technology, and the defence industry, building on existing partnerships, including the K9 self-propelled howitzer project. Lee also met separately with Malaysian Secretary General of Defence Lokman Hakim Bin Ali and Singapore's Minister of State for Defence Desmond Choo, and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in defence and arms manufacturing, among others, the defence ministry said. The Seoul Defence Dialogue (SDD) is being held under the theme Toward a new coexistence in the age of turbulence, according to South Korea's defence ministry. On the concluding day of the event, the participants were addressed by Sumit Mahajan, Saharanpur Chief Development Officer, during a technical session that shared information about the functioning and role of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in women's empowerment and given valuable insights into the objectives of the NRLM, the official said in a statement. NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar said that a woman's self-confidence is the beginning of change and her leadership is the mark of progress. In our contemplation there is woman, in our tradition there is woman, in our culture there is woman, and in our social consciousness too there is woman. Woman is not merely the axis of the family for us, she is the power of society; she is also the embodiment of tenderness, and the idol of courage and resolve, she added. Earlier, a session on Gender Responsive Governance: Gender Budgeting for Women's Empowerment focused on integrating a gender perspective into policymaking, planning and allocation of public resources. Neelam Gorhe, Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, led the session, the statement said. The session on Effective Leadership: Values and Public Leadership deliberated on the importance of integrity, accountability and empathy in public leadership. Madhulika Kaushik, Pro Chancellor, Usha Martin University, led the session, the statement added. On the inaugural day of the workshop on Monday, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla highlighted the significance of greater representation of women in democratic institutions, referring to the provision of 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies as a historic need. Observing that the growing presence of women across various public services and professions, Om Birla said that the coming years would witness a new generation of women leaders emerging across political, administrative, and social spheres. He added that the day is not far when women will account for more than 50 per cent of public services. The Lok Sabha Speaker said that the focus must now shift from merely providing support and opportunities to women towards enabling them to actively shape policies, programmes, and laws. Om Birla stressed that women should themselves participate in determining the legislation required to address their concerns and aspirations. Referring to the constitutional commitment to equality and various legislative measures undertaken for women's safety, empowerment, and self-reliance, the Lok Sabha Speaker highlighted that institutions such as the NCW have an important role in identifying emerging challenges and facilitating solutions. He emphasised that women legislators -- through the Lok Sabha, State Legislative Assemblies, Panchayats, and Municipalities -- can play a decisive role in bringing women's concerns before appropriate fora and ensuring that laws respond to ground-level realities. Labour contractor Sanoj was apprehended in Kasganj and is being brought to Delhi for examination, the police said. Initial questioning of Sanoj revealed that on the day of the building collapse, the basement floor was being repaired as the waste was getting accumulated during rainy season for the past eight to 10 days, said the police, adding that the Ground Floor of the building was being repaired for extension for commercial purpose. Meanwhile, the building owner Urmila, 75, and her retired husband Hariram, 81, were produced in court which sent them to 14 days of judicial custody. Their son Mahesh was sent to police custody for two days, said an official. The police said that during questioning, Mahesh told interrogators that he used to manage the maintenance of the building on behalf of his parents. They had given the building on lease to the PG Operators Hostel Daze in August 2025. Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Tuesday that the civic agency will demolish a dilapidated building next to the site of the ill-fated paying guest (PG) building that collapsed in Satya Niketan, killing seven people two days ago. Sharing information about the plan to pull down the unsafe structure, the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) on social media platform X on Tuesday said, On the instructions of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has been directed to demolish the dilapidated building adjoining the accident site in the interest of public safety. The belongings of students inside the building are being safely removed by Delhi Fire Service personnel in a systematic manner. All students and local residents are requested to cooperate with the authorities, the CMO added. The demolition order comes in the backdrop of the strict action of suspending five civic officials responsible for checking illegal construction in the colony located close to Delhi University's South Campus in Dhaula Kuan. The five-storey building, known as 'Hostel Daze', was operating as a boys' PG, and several students were staying there when the incident took place around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, in which seven people were killed, the police said. The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), through Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), is working to take cancer-care capabilities to different parts of the country, with services ranging from cancer treatment and radiation to prevention, early detection, diagnosis and training of medical professionals, the minister said. Dr. Singh said that more cancer-care facilities at different levels are necessary for patients to access quality treatment closer to their homes, an official statement said. He also called for cooperation from citizens and society to check malpractices like food adulteration etc. that may add to the cancer burden, Department of Atomic Energy said in the statement. Dr. Singh was speaking at the inauguration of the Day-Care Cancer Facility at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Medical College, Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh. The facility is being developed with technical support from Tata Memorial Centre, Department of Atomic Energy, as part of a phased effort to strengthen cancer-care services at the medical college. The Vidisha programme began with a Cancer Gap Care Analysis undertaken by a multidisciplinary team of senior specialists from Tata Memorial Centre from June 5 to 7, 2026. Meanwhile, a large-scale cancer screening and awareness camp was organised in Vidisha, in which 586 cancer patients and 254 suspected cases were identified, with arrangements made for appropriate further treatment and referral. Dr. Singh said that radiotherapy is another important component of the Vidisha cancer-care plan, adding that the Madhya Pradesh government has announced construction of a radiotherapy facility at Government Medical College, Vidisha, with a Linear Accelerator (LINAC) facility expected to be commissioned within two to three years. This will provide patients from Vidisha and surrounding districts access to advanced radiation treatment closer to home. Tata Memorial Centre will also work with the medical college towards establishing a centre of excellence for cancer prevention and early detection through education and research. Healthcare workers will also be trained in evidence-based strategies for reducing the cancer burden, with TMC supporting implementation and periodic monitoring. Speaking at a public meeting in Navsari district, PM Modi recalled his early years as Gujarat Chief Minister and his visits to villages as part of the 'Kanya Kelavani' campaign to promote girls education. He said he would travel to villages during the intense summer heat and take girls to school, while persuading their parents to educate their daughters. When I was newly appointed Chief Minister of Gujarat and you all gave me the opportunity to serve, during the initial years, when I began working, I would go to villages. On June 13, 14 and 15, in the heat of 44 degrees Celsius, PM Modi said. He recalled that electricity was not available around the clock at the time and that many villages did not even have fans. For the Kanya Kelavani campaign, I would travel from village to village, hold the fingers of girls and take them to school. I would explain to their parents that they should educate their daughters, he said. PM Modi said the work did not always attract media attention. It was such straightforward work that it would not get much coverage in newspapers, it would not appear on television, and nobody would take much note of it, he said. Despite this, he said he continued visiting villages every year. He then described meeting some of the girls again after they had grown up. And now, whenever I go to a village, the same girls whom I had once taken to school have now grown up. They come to me carrying those old photographs and proudly say, Sir, you took me to school, and now I have become a nurse. Now I am studying in the final year', he emphasised. He said such encounters provided a sense of fulfilment that could not be measured simply by the number of years a person had held public office. Instead of thinking about how many years someone has been Prime Minister or how many years they served as Chief Minister, think about this: When a small girl, a daughter of a poor family, a daughter of a family living in the forests, my tribal daughter, meets me again after 18 or 20 years, think about how much satisfaction that brings to life, he said. PM Modi said public service, when pursued consistently, could produce results that became visible only years later. He added that the blessings of people were themselves a source of motivation. There is so much strength in those blessings that they give us the power to do something new every day, provide inspiration and give us the strength to reach the pinnacle of hard work, he said. The Prime Minister linked the experience to the wider idea of service, saying the purpose of political organisation, public office and government should ultimately be to serve citizens. Addressing a bi-weekly press briefing in New Delhi, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India has so far sent 95 tonnes of relief material on seven aircraft and deployed forensic and tunnel rescue teams to support Nepals relief and rescue efforts. We have expressed solidarity and sympathy with the people and government of Nepal, and we are doing our best to help them in this particular disaster. As a close friend and neighbour, India has responded promptly and will continue to support Nepals relief, rescue, and reconstruction efforts. We have sent 95 tonnes of relief material on board seven aircraft, and some more material shall be sent there soon. Our forensic team and our tunnel rescue team, both the teams, are operating on the ground. They are giving a helping hand in the rescue and relief efforts, Jaiswal stated. The forensic team is currently working in two laboratories in Kathmandu, where they are working on 1200 DNA samples in these two laboratories. We will continue to support Nepal as per their requirement. As I told you last time, 275 Indian nationals are missing in this disaster. 169 Indian nationals have been rescued so far. And these 275 Indian nationals who are missing, that I mentioned, also include 49 people who went missing on the Chinese side, he mentioned. Jaiswal further said the government of India had been actively extending assistance to Indian nationals following the disaster, with 24x7 control rooms set up in India, Beijing and Kathmandu to assist and ensure their safety and welfare. When this disaster unfolded in Nepal, we have been very active, giving a helping hand to Indian nationals. We set up a control room here. We set up a control room in Beijing, in Kathmandu 24 X7, and we have been manning these control rooms and trying to do our best for our people. There may be occasional cases here and there .. We have tried our best, but still some elements would have been short of expectations. But let me tell you that it has been our desire to do our best for our people, and we remain committed to their welfare, safety, and their wellbeing, the MEA spokesperson asserted. The massive flood that struck Nepal's Rasuwa originated in the Tibetan region of China on August 26. It swept through the transboundary Bhote Koshi River, leaving over a thousand dead, including foreign nationals, and caused widespread destruction in the Himalayan nation.
