The announcement follows the response to the production houses show Ankahee, which has crossed over 5 lakh views on YouTube. Bada Jurm Choti Kahani marks the next step in Sunshine Pictures digital journey. The production house has used artificial intelligence as a creative tool in the making of the show, with the makers stating that character development, storytelling and human emotion remain central to the series. Speaking about the project, Vipul Amrutlal Shah said, With Ankahee, we wanted to establish that vertical storytelling does not have to mean superficial storytelling. A small screen and a shorter duration can still accommodate big emotions, strong characters and compelling narratives. Bada Jurm, Choti Kahani takes that thought into the crime genre. Every episode may be short, but the crime, the circumstances, and most importantly the character are not. We want audiences to look beyond the crime and ask what makes an ordinary person commit an extraordinary act. The human aspect remains common at the core of any story we do at Sunshine. The series has been designed as a suspense thriller set within the crime genre, with the makers stating that artificial intelligence has been integrated into the creative process to enhance visual storytelling while keeping the human experience at the centre of the narrative. Sanjay Upadhyay added, AI is an exciting creative tool, but technology by itself cannot create a connection with an audience. That connection comes from a story and from characters that feel real. With Bada Jurm, Choti Kahani, our attempt is to use the possibilities of AI to tell stories that are sharp, contemporary and visually distinctive, while keeping the human emotions at the centre of every crime. The official promo for the series was released on August 3 and drew attention from viewers online, with several praising its tone and premise. The free-to-watch weekly series will begin streaming on YouTube from August 13, with new episodes releasing every Thursday on Sunshine Pictures official YouTube channel. Rahman calling Chhaava propaganda film: He must have read the script [feed_description] => Lyricist and writer Manoj Muntashir has responded to AR Rahman's past comments about alleged prejudice in the Hindi film industry and his subsequent description of Chhaava as a propaganda film. Muntashir questioned both remarks, arguing that there could be several reasons behind an artiste receiving less work and that Rahman, having worked on Chhaava, would have been aware of the film's story before agreeing to compose its music. Muntashir shared his views during a conversation with Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel. He said, When Mohd Azharuddin became captain of the Indian Cricket team, when a Muslim becomes the President of India, when a legend like AR Rahman... who despite his religious identity... there is no bigger name than him in this country. Why didn't he ask this question, Why me? or Why a Muslim? Muntashir went on to suggest that there could be other factors behind an artiste receiving fewer opportunities and said such possibilities should also be considered before attributing it to religious discrimination. Today, because of some reason you feel that you are getting less work, then why shouldn't we look for other reasons? It might be that we have not maintained good relations with people. Maybe the songs haven't worked in the last few years. There can be so many other reasons, he said. Manoj Muntashir questions AR Rahmans Chhaava remark Muntashir also addressed Rahman's reported description of Vicky Kaushal-starrer Chhaava as a propaganda film. Rahman composed the music for the historical drama, which was directed by Laxman Utekar and starred Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Questioning Rahman's decision to associate with the film if he viewed its narrative as propaganda, Muntashir said the composer would have known the story before signing on. He shouldn't have been a part of that film. It is not like you hadn't heard the script before agreeing to work in it. You suddenly started composing music for it? He must have read the script, Muntashir said. He further questioned why Rahman would work on the project before criticising its nature after its completion. Okay, so it was a propaganda film and you didn't want to do it... but after doing the film and calling it a propaganda, I do not understand this, sorry, he added. Muntashir also said he would be willing to discuss the matter directly with Rahman if they meet. I don't understand what is the reason behind hurting the social fabric of this nation suddenly. But whenever I will meet him, I will ask him this. He does not mind an open dialogue, he said. For the unversed, Rahman had earlier discussed the possibility of facing prejudice within the Hindi film industry in an interaction with the BBC. When asked whether he had experienced discrimination, the composer said, Maybe I never get to know of this, maybe it was concealed but I didnt feel any of this. Maybe in the past eight years because a power shift has happened and people who are not creative have the power now. It might be a communal thing also but it is not in my face. While the city has become the backdrop for her latest project, the actress has also been taking time to explore the local surroundings and experience the culture of the region. During her stay in Narmadapuram, Helly visited the city's well-known Sethani Ghat, located on the banks of the Narmada River. She was seen taking a holy dip in the river and spending some quiet time around the ghat. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Helly Shah (@hellyshahofficial) The visit came amid her ongoing shooting schedule. Away from the camera, Helly appeared to make the most of the peaceful setting around the riverfront. Sethani Ghat is one of Narmadapuram's prominent landmarks and is known for its association with religious and cultural activities, including the evening aarti. Her time in the city has also involved interactions with local residents. Despite her busy schedule, the actress reportedly spent some time meeting people in the area, with her approachable nature leaving a positive impression on those who interacted with her. Helly's affection for animals was another aspect of her visit that caught attention. During breaks from the shoot, she was seen feeding a cow and spending time with street dogs around the area. These moments offered a glimpse of the actress away from her professional commitments and the usual atmosphere of a film set. Narmadapuram, with the Narmada River and its historic ghats, has also provided a distinct setting for the upcoming web series. The city's riverfront and quieter surroundings are expected to add a local backdrop to the project, which is currently being filmed there. The ongoing shoot has also drawn attention from residents, with locals getting an opportunity to catch glimpses of the cast and production in the city. For Helly, the Narmadapuram schedule appears to have been about more than simply filming. Her visits to the Narmada, interactions with residents and moments spent with animals have offered a glimpse into how the actress has been spending her time between shoots. While details about her character and the upcoming web series remain under wraps, Helly's visit to Narmadapuram has already given audiences a glimpse of her experiences away from the screen. The actor has now opened up about the responsibility of portraying a real-life martyr, the extensive research behind the series and the support he received from Ahujas wife, Alka Ahuja, during his preparation for the role. Siddharth revealed that he was initially cautious about taking on the role, particularly because he has generally avoided portraying real-life heroes. However, the research that went into Operation Safed Sagar and the involvement of the Indian Air Force, pilots and their families gave him confidence in the project. I was chosen by the universe to play Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja. I have never played real-life heroes, except in Rang De Basanti where I played Shaheed Bhagat Singh. 20 years after playing a martyr, to be chosen to play Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja, explains why I was destined to play, he said and mentioned that he usually does not like to play real-life heroes because of the way their lives are placed on commercial grounds. He went on to add, Having said that, I don't like to approach real-life heroes; usually in India, we take the lives of martyrs, and we commercialise them for our own benefit to make money. I was worried before I signed Safed Sagar that this should have the intent that previous films have shown in this regard. The actor eventually decided to come on board after learning about the extensive groundwork undertaken for the series. When they told me the entire research that had gone into the entire creation, six years of research, the complete blessing of the Indian Airforce and the personal accounts of real pilots, real heroes and their families, is what has gone into creating Operation Safed Sagar, he revealed. Siddharth also spoke about his experience of exploring Squadron Leader Ajay Ahujas life, both as an officer and as an individual. In terms of Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja's life, he was a very inspiring man in the face of war and in peacetime. I have tremendously enjoyed the privilege of being allowed to discover and explore his life, he added. For his preparation, Siddharth said he primarily relied on the military research provided to him to understand Ahujas professional journey in the Indian Air Force, including his association with the Golden Arrows and Squadron 17. He went on to share, Primarily, I have leaned only on the military research that was provided to me, which helps me to understand the beats that he had to follow when he was in the Indian Air Force and squadron leader of the Golden Arrows and Squadron 17. A significant part of his preparation came from Alka Ahuja, who not only gave him permission to portray her husband but also shared something deeply personal with the actor. More importantly, his wife, Alka Ahuja, gave me not just the permission to play Ahuja sir but also gave me the spiritual understanding and strength I needed to wear his uniform and his shoes, he shared. Siddharth recalled writing to Alka during his preparation and asking whether she had any personal recordings or belongings of the late officer that could help him understand him better. I am happy to share that I wrote to her when I started the preparation for the performance. I asked her, 'Ma'am, can you send me any video or audio recordings? I know it was not common in 99 and before to have audio and video recordings of our lives the way it is today. I am sure today's youngsters can't even imagine a different time from what it is today. I also asked her if she could give me any personal artefacts, maybe shoelaces or a handkerchief. Alkas response and the item she eventually sent became an important moment for Siddharth and the team. She wrote back to me saying, I don't have any audio or video recordings, but whatever you create in Safed Sagar will be my memories of him going forward. That broke the entire team and me for days. Alka Ma'am went a step further and sent me his flying patches known as Wings. Pilots consider them an extension of themselves. The wings are the badges you wear as an Airforce pilot. It is considered an extension of a pilot's soul. That's what she sent me to wear through the show. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Etaki (@worldofsiddharth) Following the series release, Siddharth also shared a note on social media expressing his gratitude to the people involved in bringing Operation Safed Sagar to audiences. Alongside photographs with the cast and Alka Ahuja, he wrote, Operation Safed Sagar - Truly grateful. This honour will stay with me forever. Thank you to each and every person who gave me the strength and understanding to be able to live up to this unbelievable privilege... The makers of OSS and my incredible co-actors and technicians. You have all my love, He also acknowledged Alka Ahujas support, adding, Thank you ALKA Ma'am for letting me be a part of your family. Thank you Kamal ma'am and Tony Sir for your blessings and belief. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan and Preity Zinta, the 2006 film explored marriage, infidelity, loneliness and relationships, subjects that sparked considerable debate among audiences. Taking to social media on the eve of the anniversary, Karan shared a long note recalling what happened when he quietly attended a paid preview of the film before its theatrical release. He remembered sitting behind a traditionally dressed middle-aged couple who appeared increasingly uncomfortable during the sequence involving Dev (Khan) and Maya (Mukerji) in a hotel elevator. Recalling the couple's reaction, Karan wrote, At one point in the film, Dev and Maya enter the elevator of a hotel and what proceeds is the two characters succumbing to their love and desire. At that point Lady Saree looked at Sir Kurta in shock and dropped her popcorn. He turned back and said (in Gujarati) - Dream sequence che! According to Karan, the man eventually realised that the sequence was not a dream and decided to leave the theatre with his wife. The filmmaker said the incident left him worried about how the film would be received. However, another encounter outside the theatre left an even stronger impression on him. Karan recalled meeting a woman accompanied by her daughter, who questioned him about the film. She said, I took my daughter to see a happy film with songs and dances and family values because its YOUR film. The DAY she got her DIVORCE and this is what I saw!! Shame on you, he wrote. Karan admitted that Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna received hugely polarising reviews and audience feedback, with reactions ranging from calling it brave and his best work to accusing the film of going against traditional values. He also recalled meeting a woman at an airport lounge weeks later who told him that she had actually loved the film but had told her husband that she hated it. According to Karan, she explained, If I told him I loved it he would have asked me what I liked about itso it was safe to lie! View this post on Instagram A post shared by Karan Johar (@karanjohar) Karan Johar says Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna did not endorse infidelity Looking back at the film two decades later, Karan acknowledged its shortcomings, particularly its scale and songs. I dont deny the flaws of the film It was over bloated in scale and had opulent (and some unnecessary) songs to pander to my understanding of the mainstream but I always felt it had its heart in the right place, he wrote. The filmmaker also clarified his intention behind portraying extramarital relationships in the film. The film did not endorse infidelity (that was never ever my intention) but it did show that stepping out of the boundary of marriage to seek love or desire can destroy your very foundation and family, Karan stated. He further noted that the film was meant to present a complicated reality rather than offer straightforward answers about relationships. According to him, every relationship and circumstance is different, and cinema can encourage audiences to think about those complexities. Karan observed that several people have told him over the years that they could not relate to Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna when it released but understand it differently today. Reflecting on that shift, he wrote, 20 years later, I meet many people who tell me they couldnt relate to it then but understand it better todayPerhaps life itself gives us answers we never ever wanted to question. He concluded his note by questioning whether relationship struggles should always be viewed in terms of right and wrong. We want life to give us black and white solutions to all our relationship traumasBUT, can we look at it with a grey lens? Maybe then we will understand ourselves betterjust maybe Karan also expressed gratitude towards the cast and crew of the film, acknowledging their contribution to a movie that continues to generate discussion two decades after its release. She carries her own scars with absolute dignity. For Mona, Bulbul was a role that demanded her to explore multiple shades and approach the character with both strength and vulnerability. Reflecting on the experience, she added, I absolutely loved playing Bulbul. She is very complex and very, very challenging, and the character is so well-written. Three years later, Bulbul Jauhari continues to be remembered as one of Mona Singhs most nuanced performances. The character allowed her to showcase a side of her craft that was layered, restrained and deeply authentic, further reaffirming her versatility as an actor. From the first reading of the script to her final portrayal, Bulbul became a role that gave Mona the opportunity to create a character with strength, vulnerability and unmistakable individuality. The track, released on August 6, became a topic of discussion on social media, with several users trolling the singer over its title and questioning what theyFdescribed as its cringe lyrics. Responding to the online backlash, Guru took to Instagram on Monday and appeared to take the criticism in a light-hearted manner. Sharing his reaction to the edits and comments surrounding the song, he wrote, Guilty as charged of making songs that repeat in your head forever. Low-key loving the edits though. No bad vibes! It's just a silly little slang calm down calm down calm down fam. While the singer directly addressed the criticism online, he did not appear to mention the controversy during his visit to the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Guru spent some time at the holy site seeking blessings and later shared a picture from his visit on Instagram. Alongside the photograph, the singer posted a message in Punjabi about the strength that comes from Wahegurus blessings. In English, the note read, Whom Waheguru blesses, no storm can ever shake. When Baba Nanak holds someone's hand, they only keep moving forward. His message reflected the idea that challenges cannot overpower someone who has divine support and that faith can help a person continue moving ahead despite obstacles. Fine Shyt features vocals by Guru Randhawa and Yashvi Desai. The music video stars Guru alongside Ruhee Dosani, Divinity Bisht, Arshia Sinha, Raema Grover, Darlene Laura and Mehar Kaur. The video opens with a disclaimer stating that everyone appearing in it is above 18 and that the storyline is entirely fictional. It also features a humorous warning asking viewers not to imitate the dance moves at their workplace, joking that doing so could potentially result in trouble with HR. With his latest response, Guru has made it clear that he is not taking the social media backlash too seriously and views the songs controversial phrase as nothing more than slang. During an interaction on the show, the actress looked back at her association with the Bachchan family and recalled a humorous incident from the sets of the 2003 film Armaan, which also starred Amitabh Bachchan. During an interaction with the live studio audience, a fan asked Preity about her memories of working with Amitabh Bachchan and the Bachchan family over the years. Responding to the question, the actress spoke about her admiration for the family before recalling how keen she was to share screen space with Amitabh Bachchan early in her career. Preity revealed that while signing Armaan, she had specifically asked director Honey Irani for a scene with Amitabh Bachchan. She recalled, Very fond memories, its one family that I love and respect alot, but if I have to say if all the memories there are one and I was dying to I was dying to work with Amit ji, Dying to..... and maine bohot try kiya (I tried a lot), and then maine film sign ki (I signed a film named) Armaan, and I told Honey Irani, the director, ki main yeh film karungi agar mera Amit ji ke saath ek scene ho (I will do this film if I have a scene with Amitji). So she said, 'okay, if you're dying to work with him, you better die in the scene.' I am in coma and Amitabh ji comes and I am in coma. Amit ji remember? Aur, I was shaking because it so difficult to act dead. I felt so silly because there was the Amitabh Bachchan in the room and I was like and I was shaking, Preity aap scene kharab kar rahein ho, Priety aap hil rahein ho.. (Preity you are doing the scene badly, Preity you are moving) Preity The actress went on to explain that the scene required her character to remain in a coma while Amitabh Bachchan appeared in the room. However, being in the presence of the veteran actor made it difficult for her to remain completely still during the shot. Preitys anecdote added a lighter moment to the conversation as she recalled being repeatedly reminded by the team that her movements were affecting the scene. Her nervousness while sharing the frame with Amitabh Bachchan ultimately became one of the memories she associated with the film. Armaan, directed by Honey Irani, featured Amitabh Bachchan alongside Anil Kapoor, Preity Zinta and Gracy Singh. Released in 2003, the film revolved around the lives of doctors and their personal and professional relationships. Meanwhile, Preity Zinta will be marking her return to the big screen with Batwara 1947 that features her in the role of Sunny Deols wife. The movie also stars Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, Karan Deol, among others and is slated to release on August 14. Directed by Manoj Tapadia, the Hindi film arrives on the streaming platform during a period when conversations around patriotism and the meaning of serving the nation often take centre stage. Ahead of the OTT premiere, Tapadia spoke exclusively about the film's approach to patriotism and the message he hopes audiences, particularly young Indians, take away from the story. According to the filmmaker, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata does not approach patriotism through loud declarations or overt displays of nationalism. Instead, he believes that love for one's country can be expressed through everyday actions and individual contributions to society. Patriotism can be displayed without jingoism. For me patriotism is as personal an affair as religion. It's an internal feeling. You don't need to be loud and bombastic. You can love your country quietly and serve it without shouting at the top of your lungs. It's the action that matters, not words, Tapadia said. The director added that the film's central idea is rooted in the belief that people can contribute to the country in different ways, irrespective of their profession or position. This films core message, though unsaid is you can show the love for your country from where you are and in whatever capacity you serve the nation, he added. Manoj Tapadia on the message for young Indians With Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata releasing on OTT around Independence Day, Tapadia also spoke about what he expects younger viewers to take away from the film. Rather than describing his hopes, the director expressed confidence that today's youth will understand the film's intent. I don't hope, I am sure what message youth will take out. I want them to feel each and everything we have to say. And they will. They are supremely intelligent and aware, Tapadia said. The filmmaker also hopes the film encourages conversations beyond the screen, particularly within families and communities. For him, the Independence Day period provides an opportunity to look beyond conventional ideas of heroism and recognise people whose contributions often go unnoticed. It's time they discussed selflessness, kindness, humanity, compassion and recognise and talk about the real heroes of our society who remain unsung and undiscovered. Not just discuss but active appreciate their contribution that goes unnoticed. Even in daily life, he said. Tapadia further identified the two ideas he wants audiences to carry with them after watching the film. The first is an emotion of gratitude, accompanied by pride in the country and its people. One emotion that I want the audience to leave with is: Sense of Gratitude with a deep sense of pride, he said. For the director, however, the film's message should ultimately translate into everyday behaviour. He believes that respecting every form of work and the people who perform it should become a regular part of social life. One action: Dignity of labour should become a way of life, Tapadia concluded. With its August 14 premiere, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata will reach audiences just ahead of Independence Day. The actress, who played Pooja in Farhan Akhtars directorial debut, marked the silver jubilee by sharing glimpses of the films original bound script on social media and reflecting on the impact the film has had on her career. Speaking about the enduring relevance of Dil Chahta Hai, Sonali said, Dil Chahta Hai still feels as fresh and relevant as ever. It's an iconic film that has stood the test of time and will continue to do so. For me, it is a milestone in my life and career. My track in the film, especially Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan, continues to receive so much love even today. It's heartwarming to see audiences revisit the film generation after generation. Im going to be ever grateful to Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani for giving me DCH - I feel proud to be a part of Excel Entertainments first-ever project. Looking back at the atmosphere on the sets, the actress said that the team was unaware that they were working on a film that would eventually become a reference point for generations of viewers. The atmosphere was so youthful, energetic and full of humour. We were simply a group of passionate people trying to make something beautiful. Nobody dreamt that we were making a film that would become a milestone for generations, she shared. Sonali also recalled the unusual circumstances through which she landed the role of Pooja. According to the actress, her photographs accidentally came to the attention of Zoya Akhtar, who was the casting director and chief AD on the project at the time. Recalling the story, Sonali shared, It's almost a filmy story. My photographs accidentally fell out of someone's file, and Zoya happened to notice them. She had already seen my work in films like Daayra, Mukta and Dr. Ambedkar and called me to audition for Pooja. The audition itself was filled with laughter and improvisation. I instantly fell in love with the warmth of the team and knew I wanted to be a part of this world. For Sonali, the film also offered an introduction to a world that was very different from her upbringing in Pune. She credited Zoya Akhtar for helping her navigate the fashion and contemporary aesthetic. I come from a simple family, and Pune wasn't the bustling city it is today. I wasn't exposed to the world of fashion, luxury or the lifestyle that surrounded Dil Chahta Hai. Zoya became the person who gently introduced me to that world. What I admire most about her is that despite her incredible sense of style and creative vision, she has always remained grounded. She truly loves cinema, and that authenticity reflects in everything she creates. I will always be grateful to her for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to be part of a film that has become a cultural landmark in Indian cinema, she revealed. One of the memorable portions of Sonalis role in Dil Chahta Hai was the song Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan, in which she was paired with Saif Ali Khan. Recalling the preparation for the song, the actress revealed that she had very little time for rehearsals because of her theatre commitments. Sonali went on to add, I was told I could rehearse only for a few hours because I had to leave for my theatre performance. But after barely 10 or 15 minutes, they told me, 'You're ready, we'll see you on set.' I was terrified because I thought I needed more practice, but they assured me everything was perfect. The shoot itself became another memorable experience for Sonali, particularly because of the laughter shared by the cast. Recalling Saif Ali Khans reaction to her look in the song, she mentioned, When I appeared in that body-hugging Punjabi suit and bouffant hairstyle, Saif couldn't stop laughing. He joked that he felt like he was dancing with his mother (Sharmila Tagore) because of the hairstyle. Every sequence- from recreating classic Bollywood eras to the tiny comic expressionswas filled with laughter. Even today, it feels like we shot the song only yesterday. Sonali also spoke about her experience of working with Saif and their chemistry on screen. Working with Saif was so easy. We clicked from our very first scene together, and his comic timing is extraordinary. Many scenes had to be retaken because I simply couldn't stop laughing. I had fallen in love with Saif as an actor in Dil Chahta Hai, and that admiration only grew over the years as we saw his comic timing and his sharp sense of humour. Saif has such a unique, friendly vibe. Working with each other felt effortless, she stated. The actress also remembered working with Farhan Akhtar, who made his directorial debut with Dil Chahta Hai. According to Sonali, his preparation and clarity were evident despite it being his first film as a director. Farhan may have been making his directorial debut, but he was remarkably composed and well prepared. We had a bound script, everything was structured and he knew exactly what he wanted. It truly felt like a group of talented youngsters creating something special, she mentioned. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Sonali Kulkarni (@sonalikul) Among her memories from the shoot was a birthday celebration organised by the cast and crew. Sonali recalled that Zoya Akhtar announced her birthday over a megaphone, following which the cast and crew, including Aamir Khan and Preity Zinta, celebrated with her. Aamir Khan and his then-wife Reena also gifted her signed books, making the occasion particularly memorable for the actress. As Dil Chahta Hai completes 25 years, Sonali believes its writing remains the key reason behind its continued connection with audiences. She said, What makes the film timeless is its writing. At its heart, it's a beautiful story about friendship and that phase of life when people are stepping into adulthood and making important choices. Those emotions belong to everyone. That's why even today, audiences continue to connect with it as if it were their own story, she concluded. He is currently riding on the success of Main Vaapas Aaunga. But not many would remember that he started as a screenwriter when he first emerged on the scene more than two decades ago. Interestingly, he has returned to screenwriting in the recently-released web series Operation Safed Sagar after more than a decade and a half. Kamil has written additional dialogues for the show based on 1999 Kargil War. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, he spoke about how he got back to writing dialogues after these many years. Sanjay Routray, the producer of Operation Safed Sagar, knows me from the time of Socha Na Tha (2005). He was the executive producer of that film. He asked to come and see what kind of dialogues can be in this show. As there are also Pakistani characters, they dont speak the kind of Hindi that we speak here. There is a different type of mixture with Urdu. He said I should do some dialogues for some characters. So, I did dialogues for them. This is after around 16 years that I have done dialogues, said Kamil. Kamil revealed the reason for discontinuing screenwriting and becoming a lyricist instead. After migrating to Bombay, I used to write TV shows, he said. I used to write story, screenplay and dialogues. But later I felt that TV is not giving me that kind of a high. After a point, you feel you want something else. So, I left TV and tried lyrics writing. The first film I signed was Socha Na Tha. The first release was Chameli (2003). I started getting more satisfaction while writing lyrics. There is another reason why Irshad Kamil felt it wasnt worth writing for TV shows. What happened with TV was that there was a show after every 30 minute, so they stopped showing the initial credits, which I found heart-breaking. I thought nobody would know whether I have written the show or someone else. So, I left that. My last serial was Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli with Rajshri (Productions), he said. Operation Safed Sagar is getting rave reviews from audiences and critics. The show is streaming on Netflix. However, his latest series, Prime Video's Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya, allows the actor to explore a more overtly humorous side of his performance. The seven-episode series started streaming on July 24 and also stars Archana Puran Singh, Prasanna Bisht and Naveen Kasturia. Set in a dysfunctional government school in Delhi, Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya follows a laidback headmaster whose plan to organise a fully paid Cambridge trip leads to an attempt to transform the struggling institution. The resulting chaos forms the basis of the show's comedy. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Menon addressed whether the series represents a departure from the darker roles he has frequently played. The actor pointed out that humour has actually been present in several of his earlier performances, even if those projects did not always receive the same level of attention. Actually, over a period of time I've done this kind of stuff, just that something gets popular, something doesn't. You can't help that. I've done Sankat City earlier, I've done Benny & Babloo earlier, I've done Farzi earlier, you know, so many of them, Menon said. The actor added that he naturally tries to incorporate humour into his performances, regardless of the genre or character he is playing. It's just that there are different people and I inherently try and bring some humour into whatever I'm doing, even if it's Himmat Singh. So that has been in the grain. Here it's out and out. It's in that sense different, he explained. Menon also stressed that his approach to Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya was not simply about playing a headmaster. Instead, he focused on understanding and portraying Gyaneshwar Tripathi, the character created for him by the show's makers. I'm still trying to play that person called Gyaneshwar Tripathi. So if he was Ramesh Tripathi, he would have been a different person. So I'm not playing the headmaster at all. I'm playing that person who has been given to me by Biswapati Sarkar and gang, he said. For Menon, finding the personality behind the designation is central to his acting process. He said his effort is always to portray the individual rather than simply the profession or position associated with the character. That is my endeavour always, to play the person, and I find him very endearing, the actor added. Kay Kay Menon says Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya is meant to be taken lightly Given that Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya is set against the backdrop of a government school and revolves around teachers attempting to address problems within the institution, Menon was also asked whether the show reflects India's education system or attempts to offer audiences a message of hope. The actor clarified that the series should primarily be viewed as a work of humour rather than a serious commentary on the education system. It's a very light take, nothing too serious. If people want to take a lesson out of it, most welcome. But it is a fictitious school. It is a dysfunctional school in a fictitious town called Tinki Toli which doesn't exist, he said. Menon further explained that viewers do not necessarily need to look for a deeper message in every aspect of the story. So the entire thing has to be seen as a portion of humour. You really can't, because otherwise what happens is that nowadays everybody tries to take out something from [everything]. Some things can be light and watch it for what it is, he said. At the same time, the actor acknowledged that the writers may have drawn from their own experiences while developing the story and characters. I'm sure the writers have had their own experiences and which is why the script has come about. They've taken it from their own lives perhaps, and it's very well written, Menon said. He also maintained that he does not approach his performances with the intention of teaching audiences or offering them advice. So, as an actor, all I can say is that I've never endeavoured to give a lesson to people or give gyaan, he said, before adding with a laugh, which is why I don't even do podcasts because I can't give gyaan anymore. With Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya, Menon gets to foreground a lighter quality that has appeared in his work before but is more central to this particular character. The actor's comments also underline his focus on playing Gyaneshwar Tripathi as an individual rather than simply presenting another version of a school headmaster. The seven-episode series began streaming on July 24 and is set in a dysfunctional Delhi government school, where a laidback headmaster's plan for a fully funded Cambridge trip leads to an attempt to transform the institution. For Kay Kay Menon, however, one of the biggest surprises while working on the show was not the elaborate school set or the ensemble, but the confidence and technical understanding displayed by its young actors. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Menon recalled his first impression of the children on the set and said he was taken aback by how naturally they approached acting and working in front of the camera. The first thing I was completely taken aback by was that the actors were children in this show. They are the actual stars. They are unbelievably good, all of them, and they know everything about the camera, they know the angles, they know about magnification, and bang on, the actor said. Menon noted that the way children perform on camera has changed significantly compared to earlier generations. According to him, young actors today are more natural and do not necessarily rely on the kind of rehearsed mannerisms that were once commonly associated with child performers. It's not the old type acting in which the father and mother used to tutor a child before and send him. I also mentioned this in an interview that previously you used to find a child always saying two times uncle or two times... uncle, uncle used to go like that. So all that is gone. Today the child is behaving like a child, and I was pleasantly surprised, Menon explained. The observation led to a discussion on whether the change represents a broader generational shift in the way children understand filmmaking and performance. Prasanna Bisht, who is also part of Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya, agreed with Menon's assessment. She pointed out that children today are exposed to filmmaking from a much younger age, particularly through smartphones and social media. Yes, I agree. They're making their own films; they're shooting on phones and everything, and it comes with generational information, Bisht said. Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya is currently streaming on Prime Video. In a recent conversation with ANI, the actor revealed that he once entered the Narmada River while believing that he would be able to meet his mother again. Speaking about the period after his mothers demise, Govinda said he was in tremendous emotional pain and felt that his life had come to an end. I was in a lot of pain. I was in tremendous pain. At that point, I felt that everything was over; that was it, he said. Nirmala Devi, a Hindustani classical vocalist and actress, died on June 15, 1996, at the age of 69. Govinda has often spoken about his close relationship with his mother and the influence she had on his life. Recalling what happened at the Narmada River, Govinda said, So, I was at the Narmada River, I thought I would go a little farther into the river and that I would meet my mother again. So, I went into the river. When asked if the incident was an attempt to end his life, Govinda responded, Kind of. I was deeply attached to my mother. I was too much in love with her. He added that he did not view the incident only through the terminology commonly associated with suicide. Thats what the world calls it. People use suicide type of words. We don't really have anything like that. Life never ends. It takes on new faces; It takes on new forms, he said. Govinda recalled that a sadhu, whom he remembers as Ram Kundal, approached him and helped him leave the river. He called out to me and came toward me. I came out of the river and he asked What happened, Govind? he said. The actor said the incident eventually made him reconsider his life and responsibilities. I realised, actually someone said to me this at that time that I was doing something wrong... And I learned a lesson, I realised that I have to live for my children, he said. Govinda said it took him around 10 to 15 days to come out of that state of mind. He eventually realised there was something else in this world that he needed to experience and decided to move forward. The actor also reflected on how his mothers death changed his perspective on films, acting and stardom. Films are just like toys for me. I shouldn't say this; I am saying it out of fear of God. Forgive me if I shouldn't be saying this, and if I am offending anyone... But I believe that films, acting, stardom, heroism, all of it, is a manifestation of God. Whatever we have received, we have received from God, and we are simply acting in it. We have seen all of this, and we were able to experience it. For Govinda, however, fulfilling his mothers dreams remains his biggest achievement. But the real achievement for me was that I could serve my family and my mother. I could fulfil all the wishes she had imagined for me, what she had thought my son Govinda would achieve when he turned 21. That was her dream. And I was able to fulfil it. I saw true heroism in that part of my life. That is a very different way of looking at things, he said. On the work front, Govinda is currently promoting his upcoming film Roopa, which also stars Komal Rani Swarnkar. The film marks his comeback after several years. He was last seen in Rangeela Raja in 2019 and later appeared in the 2022 documentary Naam Tha Kanhaiyalal. Reacting to the trend, Kishan said the exuberance people find funny online is simply an extension of who he is. An unlikely meme favourite From his old remark about money following his brother to his spirited rendition of Koteshwaray Shiv Koteshwaray, several of Kishans past moments have been resurrected by social media users and turned into memes. What started as a handful of viral clips soon snowballed into a wider trend, with fans digging up more of his interviews and performances. The actor-politician, however, seems to be embracing the attention rather than shying away from it. Speaking to News18 about his sudden meme fame, Kishan said, I enjoy this because this is me! Icons who dance inside him Kishan went on to credit a wide range of cultural icons for shaping his flamboyant style, saying, Im from Al Pacino to Amitabh Bachchan to Balraj Sahni to Shah Rukh Khan to Michael Jackson to Elvis Presley Itni saare log mere sharir mein naachte, gaate rehte hain. Toh main itni fusions deta rehta hoon ki yeh desh aisa deewana hee rahega. Im the same guy jisne 20 saal pehle bola tha, Zindagi jhandwa, phir bhi ghamandwa. Nothing is planned, says the actor Kishan insisted that none of his viral moments are staged or rehearsed for effect. Im not trying anything. Im not reading anything. Im not doing extra theatrical or anything, or planning ki iss tarah bolunga. Its just the moment I come, and something happens to my body, and words nikalte hai. Aur kuchh bhi hota hai, whether Parliament mein bhaag raha hoon ya kuchh bhi hai, it goes viral, he said. He also reflected on why audiences seem to be responding warmly to nearly everything he does these days. Bolte hai na jab samay aata hai, aapki har andaaz logon ko achhi lagne lagti hai. So, its just the time, blessing shower of God, humare purwajon ka, everyone from the family, people praying. I believe in that, he said. Kishan was last seen in director Indra Kumars Dhamaal 4, which also starred Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi and Riteish Deshmukh in lead roles. For now, the actor-politician appears content to let the internet enjoy itself, insisting that he is simply being who he has always been. Also Read: Believe it or not! Mirzapur: The Film is scheduled to release in cinemas on September 4, 2026, bringing several familiar characters back to the big screen. Ahead of the films trailer launch, Tripathi, who plays the iconic character Kaleen Bhaiya, spoke about how the theatrical format will offer something different from the shows OTT experience. The new thing about the film and you actually touched upon this in your question is the scale. On OTT, you watch on screens ranging from 5 to 100 inches, but now youll be watching on a 25-to-28-foot screen. So, the major shift is that you get to see it on the big screen and experience it communally. Until now, watching on OTT was a solitary, private affair; now, youll be watching it with an audience, he said. Tripathi believes watching Mirzapur collectively in theatres will alter the impact of the franchise. Whenever a performance or art form is experienced communally, the impact changes entirely. Enjoying it in a group creates a unique, shared experience. So, while Mirzapur used to be a leave me alone kind of watch, its now in party mode. The world is the same, the characters are the same, but the story is new, and the experience is much grander, he added. The actor also revealed that he recently worked on the films dubbing and was impressed by what he saw. I was doing some dubbing work yesterday and really enjoyed what I saw. I even wondered, Is it just because Im part of the film that Im enjoying it so much? he said, adding that his excitement increased after seeing the footage. Directed by Gurmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna, Mirzapur: The Movie is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment. Turtle Walker follows the life and conservation work of Indian sea turtle expert Satish Bhaskar, whose research and efforts towards studying and protecting sea turtles have contributed to marine conservation in India. The documentary is produced by Tiger Baby, Emaho Films and HHMI Tangled Bank Studios, with Academy Award-winning filmmaker James Reed among its executive producers. Tiger Baby founders Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti have also spoken about the documentarys journey and its upcoming release on Animal Planet. Zoya Akhtar says, Satish Bhaskars is one of those extraordinary stories that deserves to be told widely. Animal Planet has long been a home for stories about our natural world, and we are so glad Turtle Walker has found a place in India: Epic Wild Stories. Reema Kagti adds, What stays with you about Satishs journey is how much one person can do simply by caring deeply and refusing to give up. After seeing his story connect with audiences around the world, it feels special to now have it reach a wider audience back home through Animal Planet. Director Taira Malaney also expressed her thoughts on the documentary becoming part of the anthology. She said, Im incredibly happy that Turtle Walker is part of India: Epic Wild Stories. While Satishs story is full of wonder, adventure and discovery, it has shown me that meaningful change doesnt always begin with grand gestures. Sometimes, it starts with one person who cares deeply and simply does not give up. We have been overwhelmed by the response to the film thus far, and I cannot wait for audiences across India to see it. The documentary began as an independent production with a small crew based in Goa and developed over eight years into an international co-production involving partners from India and overseas. Turtle Walker had its world premiere at DOC NYC in New York, where both screenings were sold out. It has since been screened at more than 75 film festivals worldwide and received over 20 awards, including the Grand Teton Award and Conservation Award at the 2024 Jackson Wild Media Awards. Since January 2026, the film has also been part of a screening tour across India. It has been screened at platforms and events including Kala Ghoda, the Kochi Biennale, Mumbai Climate Week and the Goa Open Arts Festival, among others. With India: Epic Wild Stories, Animal Planet is bringing together documentaries centred on Indian wildlife, conservation and the communities and individuals working in these spaces. Turtle Walker will be part of the anthology alongside other films exploring Indias ecosystems and the relationship between wildlife and local communities. The release date for Turtle Walker on Animal Planet will be announced soon. The playback singer posted a video on Instagram in which he can be heard singing Mohammed Rafis classic song Suhani Raat Dhal Chuki while undergoing a medical procedure. In the video, Sonu is seen lying in the operation theatre as he sings the evergreen track for his doctor Dr Nilesh Satbhai and the medical team. The song originally featured in the 1949 film Dulari, starring Madhubala and Suresh. Despite being in pain and undergoing surgery, Sonu appeared to draw comfort from music and continued singing during the procedure. Sharing the video, the singer wrote, An impromptu performance for dear drnileshsatbhai and his loving team during my surgery. Singing in the pain...the Joy of Music! The video soon caught the attention of fans, with several expressing surprise at seeing the singer perform while undergoing surgery. Many also wished him a speedy recovery. Sonu did not disclose the reason behind his latest surgery. However, earlier this year, the singer had opened up about dealing with a painful nerve-related condition. In June, he revealed that he had undergone several MRI and CT scans and was taking medication as part of his treatment. Despite the health setback, Sonu has continued to remain associated with his music commitments. His latest video offers another glimpse into his connection with music, with the singer choosing to perform even while undergoing a medical procedure. Suhani Raat Dhal Chuki remains one of Mohammed Rafis well-known songs. Originally featured in Dulari, Sonus rendition of the song inside an operation theatre has given the classic an unexpected setting. While the singer has kept details about his surgery private, his video has drawn attention from fans who focused on his performance and wished him well. Despite the film receiving a strong response at the box office and remaining popular decades later, the actor revealed that its success did not translate into a steady flow of film offers for him. Speaking to Digital Commentary, Sanjay recalled how surprising the situation was after the film became a hit. He said, Sirf Tum was such a huge hit that today, even after 27 years, we are talking about it. But look at my destiny, I didnt sign a single film after Sirf Tum. The actor said he was particularly puzzled by the industry's reaction. According to him, while audiences and people praised the film, producers did not approach him with substantial projects. People praised that film so much, but I dont know what went wrong that nobody ever approached me after that. Nobody signed me. I didnt receive any good offers, he said. Sanjay also clarified that he was not rejecting a series of major projects because of the success. Instead, he said the offers coming his way were limited and did not meet his expectations. I wont lie that I was loaded with projects and I declined. I had limited offers, but they were not very great. I thought, I have given a hit, let me wait for something better, he added. Comparing the situation with the industry today, Sanjay observed that actors can benefit significantly after delivering a few successful films. Today, if people give three hits, their career is set for 25 years. They bag several ads. They start earning in crores just after one big hit, he said. Sanjay also defended Sirf Tum against the perception that its success was driven only by its popular music. He credited the film's unusual storyline, pointing out that the lead characters do not meet until the end. Apart from having superhit songs, the script of Sirf Tum was unbelievable, he said. The actor also recalled another major success, Raja (1995), which followed his unsuccessful debut Prem. Despite achieving two significant box-office successes, Sanjay said he struggled to establish himself as a consistent leading man in Bollywood. For the actress, fitness is not about following a strict routine every single day, but about finding different forms of physical activity that keep her motivated and allow her to maintain a balance. Speaking about her approach to food and exercise, Taapsee exclusively said, I love eating food. One thing I have discovered is that if you want to enjoy the food you love without worrying too much about how many calories it has and how much weight you can gain after eating it, you should not skip your workouts. Rather than relying only on traditional gym sessions, she incorporates different activities into her routine to ensure that fitness does not become monotonous. Taapsee revealed that sports are an important part of her fitness regime, with squash being one of her preferred activities. She also combines it with gym workouts and aerial yoga, which provides a different form of physical exercise. I play sports at least twice a week, especially squash, the actor added. Of course, I also go to the gym and I also practice aerial yoga. For those who may not know, aerial yoga is performed using a fabric hammock suspended from the ceiling. These are the two or three ways I keep myself fit because going to the gym every day can get boring after a while. My biggest motivation for staying fit is simple - I want to be able to eat the food I love. Taapsees fitness philosophy is therefore centred on consistency, variety and balance. By combining sports, gym sessions and aerial yoga, she finds ways to remain active without allowing her workout routine to become repetitive. Vyas on using AI in filmmaking, If AI is used to replace emotions in a film, it will take away the charm [feed_description] => AI is everywhere right now. In boardrooms, in post-production suites, in the way scripts are being developed and films are being marketed. And the entertainment industry, like every other, is trying to figure out what it means. Abishek S. Vyas has an answer. He's not dismissing the technology. But he knows where it ends. For him, AI is a workflow tool. It can speed things up, clean up processes, take the friction out of production. Technology will continue to reshape how we make films, but it can't replace the emotional truth that comes from human experiences, he said. Audiences remember stories because they connect with them emotionally, not because they were created faster. He also added, AI cant replace the emotional intelligence of writers. AI can be used as an enhancing tool as far as production is considered. But if AI is used to replace emotions in the film, that will take away the charm. And that part of storytelling is what Abishek Vyas is intent on protecting. He explains that he is not resistant to change. He's simply watching the technology closely and thinking about how it fits into the way he works. But there's a part of filmmaking that no tool gets to touch. The empathy. The specificity of a human moment. The thing that makes someone watch a scene and feel like it was made for them, that the story was lived in. That doesn't come from a model trained on data. It comes from a person who's lived something, felt something, and found a way to put it on screen.
